Production Scheduler/Planner

About The Position

This role is responsible for creating, releasing, and maintaining manufacturing and complete work orders within the ERP system. Key duties include ensuring the accuracy of Bills of Materials (BOMs), routings, and work instructions, planning purchase requisitions based on ERP demands, and communicating necessary changes to the purchasing team. The position also involves planning Engineering deliverables using Intuiflow Scheduling and Execution software, communicating released orders to shop floor personnel, and monitoring open work orders to manage rescheduling or reallocation based on changing priorities. The Production Scheduler/Planner will sequence production tasks across work centers to promote flow, confirm material availability before releasing orders, and escalate shortages to appropriate teams. They will also respond to production changes, adjust and communicate schedule changes promptly, and collaborate with Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing to resolve issues impacting order execution. Reporting deviations from the schedule, supporting root cause analysis of delays, and maintaining schedule-related data in the ERP/MRP system are also key responsibilities. Additionally, this role will participate in production meetings, assist with costing and quotation requests, analyze order closing processes and costs, provide feedback for routing updates, and release common items through the work bench. The position emphasizes effective cross-departmental collaboration, professional representation of the company, adherence to policies and standards, and performing other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in project management, production control, planning, purchasing or manufacturing preferred.
  • Understanding of blueprints, machining, fabrication, and raw materials (or willingness to learn).
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, Teams, Word).
  • Oracle ERP knowledge a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities; able to manage multiple priorities.
  • Attention to detail and commitment to data accuracy.
  • Professional, confident, and diplomatic interpersonal skills.
  • Proven problem-solving ability, with the capacity to anticipate and adapt to change.

Responsibilities

  • Create, release, and maintain manufacturing and complete work orders in the ERP system.
  • Ensure accurate BOMs, routings, and work instructions.
  • Plan purchase requisitions per ERP system demands.
  • Communicate necessary changes to the purchasing team.

  • Communicate released orders to the appropriate shop floor personnel and departments.
  • Monitor open work orders and manage rescheduling or reallocation based on changing priorities.
  • Sequence production tasks across work centers to promote flow based on priority, due dates, and available capacity.
  • Confirm material availability prior to releasing orders.
  • Escalate shortages to Procurement, Master Scheduler, and/or the Project Manager as necessary.
  • Respond to production changes due to downtime, engineering changes, or expedited orders.
  • Adjust and communicate schedule changes promptly to minimize disruptions.
  • Collaborate with Quality, Engineering, and Manufacturing to resolve issues impacting order execution and to support flow.
  • Report deviations from the schedule and support root cause analysis of delays or issues.
  • Maintain schedule-related data in the ERP/MRP system, including lead times, order statuses, and shop calendars.
  • Participate in or facilitate production meetings to provide updates and receive direction from the Master Scheduler.
  • Work with all other departments and functions of the company to ensure effective processing of customer orders.
  • Assist project and sales teams with costing and quotation requests.
  • Assist in closing orders and providing an analysis of the process and cost.
  • Provide feedback to the MRP Planners for updates to routing.
  • Release common items through the work bench.
  • Ensure effective cross-departmental collaboration to process customer orders seamlessly.
  • Represent NOV professionally in all communications and external interactions.
  • Adhere to company policies, procedures, HSE standards, and support process requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to meet business needs.
