About The Position

Lucky Goat Coffee is a specialty coffee production roastery based out of Tallahassee, Florida and making waves nationally. Since opening in 2010, Lucky Goat Coffee has continued to remain focused on the expansion of the brand through exceptional customer interactions and company specialization. With our franchise growth and cafe and wholesale needs, the Assistant Production Roaster position is critical in fulfilling our roasting targets.

We are looking for a Production Roaster to join our Coffee Roasting team. This position will be an integral part of our coffee sourcing, development, quality control and growth moving forward. The ideal candidate will have strengths in coffee roasting, knowledge of profile development, production coffee roasting, equipment maintenance and troubleshooting, an emphasis on quality control, and a passion for expanding their knowledge within the coffee world.

Requirements

• Minimum of one years’ experience in production coffee roasting.
• Ability to understand profiles and profile development.
• Working knowledge of roasting equipment and maintenance procedures (PROBAT machines preferred).
• Ability to troubleshoot roasting equipment and delegate problem solving with ease and understanding.
• Ability to communicate effectively with all internal departments to ensure preventative maintenance and quality control issues are solved in a timely manner.
• Must have strong organization skills and time management skills.
• Lift over 50 pounds regularly and be to bend, kneel, squat, among others.
• Approachable, diligent, and willing to work with others.
• Must have high level of attention to detail.
• Demonstrates a strong work ethic and desire to accomplish any task.

Responsibilities

• Fulfill roasting needs for our cafes, Cold Brew production, and a growing wholesale and franchise clientele.
• Work toward the ability to source and develop roast profiles for new coffees, both blends and single origins.
• Run and operate multiple production roasters.
• Provide daily cleaning and regular preventative maintenance on roasting equipment so machines are always performing at an optimal level.
• Ensure the highest level of quality control among all produced coffee by conducting regular cuppings.
• Maintain Daily Roast, Quality Control, and Cupping reports.
• Share roasting needs to the Production Roaster, Lead Roaster and Master Roaster as appropriate.
• Identify and coordinate learning opportunities.
• Invest into advanced learning with the Lucky Goat Educator for all Lucky Goat coffee offerings.
• Participate in a team to handle the coffee demands of a growing business.
• Actively work to grow coffee production to excess of one million pounds roasted annually.
