About The Position

The Production Readiness Coordinator is responsible for evaluating the readiness of custom manufacturing projects prior to release to Assembly and supporting a successful transition into production. The role reviews engineering drawings, bills of material, and Manufacturing Engineering build plans to determine whether a project is sufficiently prepared to begin as scheduled. The Coordinator identifies missing or incomplete information, evaluates the timing and production impact of material shortages or open items, and provides a documented go/no-go recommendation to the Planning Manager and Engineering Manager. The Production Readiness Coordinator remains actively engaged from approximately three to four weeks prior to the scheduled Assembly start through the first week of production to ensure identified risks are resolved, communicated, and effectively handed off to the manufacturing team.

Requirements

• Fast-paced general office environment and some industrial environment.
• This role involves some standing, bending, squatting, lifting, and walking.
• It may also require lifting, carrying, and moving items up to 50 lbs.
• Many tasks are time-sensitive and demand quick response.

Responsibilities

• Review Assembly projects 3 to 4 weeks before production start.
• Review BOMs, engineering drawings, and build plans for completeness and manufacturing readiness.
• Identify missing drawings, incomplete BOMs, engineering issues, shortages, and other risks to production.
• Evaluate material shortages based on when the material is required within the build, rather than treating all shortages equally.
• Understand the planned sequence and phases of the build well enough to distinguish between: Items required at production start, Items required during early Assembly, Items required later in the build.
• Provide a documented recommendation of: Go, Go with Exceptions, No-Go / Hold.
• Present readiness risks and recommendations to Planning and Engineering Managers for final decisions.
• Communicate open items to responsible stakeholders.
• Assign ownership and resolution dates for readiness gaps.
• Escalate issues that may impact the production sequence.
• Prepare a production handoff package for Assembly Supervisors.
• Conduct or support the pre-production handoff with Assembly leadership.
• Support the project through the first week of Assembly to ensure a smooth transition to execution.
• Capture lessons learned from initial Assembly for future readiness reviews.
• Establish material readiness expectations for Material Coordinators and shop personnel.
• Improve visibility of shortages, required-by dates, ownership, recovery plans, and escalation needs.
• Establish expectations for material identification, staging, shortage communication, and issue escalation.
• Provide the Assembly Supervisor with a project package that communicates: Current drawing and engineering status, BOM and material readiness, Known shortages and the build phase affected, Manufacturing Engineering build-plan requirements, Significant sequencing considerations, Known project-specific risks or exceptions, Open engineering or supply-chain items, Owner and expected resolution date for each significant open item, Items requiring attention during early build stages.
• Independently assess project readiness and make a go/no-go recommendation.
• Clearly document the associated risk, affected build phase, responsible owner, and expected resolution date when recommending that a project proceed with unresolved items.
