About The Position

Craft Master Custom Pools has been building custom gunite pools in Southeast Florida since 1994, with over 3,000 pools built across Palm Beach, Martin, St. Lucie, and Broward counties. This is a legacy company under new ownership, and we are actively building our operational systems. Some aspects of this role will require the successful candidate to help develop and implement new processes. This role is ideal for someone who wants to be involved in building and refining operational systems.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in pool construction (residential or commercial).
  • Understanding of pool construction materials, trades, cost drivers, and schedule rhythms.
  • Ability to challenge subcontractor invoices and identify errors in estimates.
  • Hands-on experience using JobTread, including managing job costing, running cost reports, and coding purchases.
  • Experience writing, pricing, and tracking change orders in a construction business.
  • Strong understanding of contract language related to scope of work.
  • Comfort with cost analysis, variance reports, and P&L tracking.
  • Ability to perform basic math without a calculator and identify errors in estimates.
  • Proactive communication skills, preferring phone calls over emails for problem-solving.
  • Ability to deliver bad news clearly and early.
  • Strong listening skills to anticipate client and subcontractor needs and potential pushback.
  • High attention to detail, with the ability to catch small errors before they compound.
  • Ability to follow up on loose ends and maintain systems.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in the Southeast Florida pool market, including knowledge of permit timelines, subcontractor networks, material suppliers, and seasonal workflows.
  • Experience managing a portfolio of 15+ concurrent jobs and prioritizing attention.
  • Experience tracking warranty and service costs and understanding how to prevent repeat failures.
  • Experience negotiating terms with vendors and tracking pricing trends.
  • Experience partnering with field supervisors or site managers.
  • Experience in conflict resolution with clients and subcontractors while maintaining relationships and adhering to scope and budget.

Responsibilities

  • Own job-level profit and loss for approximately 20 pool construction projects simultaneously.
  • Track costs, approve change orders, and prevent scope creep to protect project margins.
  • Proactively identify cost and schedule risks and implement solutions before they become crises.
  • Price change orders and ensure client signature within specified timelines.
  • Communicate honestly, factually, and quickly with clients and subcontractors regarding cost risks, changes, or delays.
  • Manage job costing and revenue recognition daily within JobTread.
  • Code purchases accurately by job and cost code upon initial entry.
  • Run own cost reports and trend analysis.
  • Partner daily with a Field Supervisor to flag cost risks, coordinate change orders and material delivery, and ensure a unified message on scope and timeline.
  • Ensure every job closes at or above the bid margin.
  • Spot variances of $1,500 or more in real time.
  • Own material-cost coding, labor variance analysis, and warranty claims allocation.
  • Get change orders in front of the client within 48 hours of the request.
  • Confirm client signature on change orders within 72 hours.
  • Understand the contract thoroughly, including scope and triggers for change orders.
  • Say 'no' to out-of-scope requests from clients and ensure it is respected, using contract references and cost backup.
  • Be the first point of contact for cost risks, changes, or schedule delays.
  • Listen to clients and subcontractors to understand their needs and potential frustrations.
  • Coordinate with Field Supervisor on material delivery against the schedule.
  • Maintain systems and checklists to prevent errors and ensure follow-through.
