This role involves monitoring daily operating plant process conditions to identify opportunities for improving safety, productivity, quality, and cost. The engineer will plan and conduct tests to increase production rates and improve quality and yield, following established procedures for plant trials. They will also suggest modifications to existing process equipment, generate Capital Project Requests, and assist the Engineering department as the process responsible for capital projects. The role requires following the PIR procedure for Handover of New or Modified Installations, and planning/coordinating new product/grade and plant trials. Troubleshooting process and equipment performance, leading problem-solving teams, and using SPC tools are key responsibilities. The engineer will also write operating procedures, conduct personnel training (including on the Distributed Control System), and assist the SHE Department with environmental reports. Monthly progress reports comparing production results to budget targets are required. The role includes performing Process Safety Management tasks such as updating P&IDs, completing PSSRs, updating process safety information, and participating in HAZOP teams. Developing and executing process changes, plant trials, safety improvements, and small capital projects using the Management of Change system is also part of the job. The position requires demonstrating emotional intelligence skills including emotional empathy, a positive attitude, excellent communication skills, flexibility/adaptability, and interpersonal skills.
