This role involves monitoring daily operating plant process conditions to identify opportunities for improving safety, productivity, quality, and cost. The engineer will plan and conduct tests to increase production rates and improve quality and yield, following established procedures for plant trials. They will also suggest modifications to existing process equipment, generate Capital Project Requests, and assist the Engineering department as the process responsible for capital projects. Additionally, the role includes planning and executing new product/grade and plant trials, troubleshooting process and equipment performance, and leading/participating in problem-solving teams using SPC tools. The engineer will also be responsible for writing operating procedures, training personnel on the Distributed Control System and processes, and assisting the SHE Department with environmental reports. Monthly progress reports comparing production results to budget targets are required. The role also entails performing Process Safety Management tasks, including updating P&IDs, completing PSSRs, updating PSI records, and participating in HAZOP teams. Developing and executing process changes, plant trials, safety improvements, and small capital projects using the Management of Change system is also a key responsibility. The position requires strong emotional intelligence skills, including emotional empathy, a positive attitude, excellent communication, flexibility/adaptability, and interpersonal skills.
