About The Position

The Production Planning Supervisor leads the development and execution of production plans and schedules to ensure efficient use of labor, materials, and equipment while consistently meeting customer demand and delivery commitments. This role owns short-term production scheduling and supports longer-term planning processes, aligning demand, capacity, and supply in a dynamic manufacturing environment. The supervisor drives continuous improvement, oversees the production planning function, and partners closely with Sales, Operations, Quality, Warehouse, and Supply Chain teams to achieve operational excellence in a highly regulated, health and wellness-focused manufacturing setting.

Requirements

  • 5–8 years of experience in production planning, scheduling, or supply chain within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proven experience in short-term production scheduling with the ability to hit the ground running in a production planning role.
  • Experience working in a manufacturing environment, preferably with batch manufacturing processes.
  • Experience supporting both short-term scheduling (S&OE) and longer-term planning (S&OP) activities.
  • Hands-on ERP experience, specifically with Sage, for managing production plans and related data.
  • Strong Excel skills, including proficiency with pivot tables and VLOOKUP functions.
  • Strong expertise in production scheduling, capacity planning, and aligning demand with available resources.
  • Ability to make sound, logical decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate effectively across Sales, Operations, Quality, Warehouse, and Supply Chain.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail, ensuring accurate and reliable production plans.
  • Analytical mindset with strong problem-solving abilities to address constraints and optimize schedules.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or a related field is preferred.
  • 2+ years of leadership or supervisory experience in production planning or a related function is preferred.
  • APICS certification such as CPIM (Certified in Planning and Inventory Management) or CSCP (Certified Supply Chain Professional) is preferred.
  • Experience in contract manufacturing or cGMP-regulated environments is strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of lean manufacturing and continuous improvement principles.
  • Experience in batch manufacturing environments is preferred.
  • Ability to lead and develop a team of planners and schedulers while promoting a culture of collaboration and operational excellence.
  • Comfort working with ERP/MRP systems such as Sage, SAP, or Oracle.
  • Interest in contributing to the health, nutrition, and wellness industry through support of nutritional supplements, vitamins, powders, gummies, tablets, capsules, cosmetics, and healthcare products.

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage the short-term production scheduling process, including daily and weekly production plans.
  • Develop and maintain executable production schedules that align with customer demand and delivery commitments.
  • Monitor production progress and adjust schedules as needed to address capacity, labor, or material constraints.
  • Partner with Operations to ensure high schedule adherence, strong first-pass yield, and on-time completion of production orders.
  • Process orders received from Sales into the master production schedule, including batch cutting based on customer promise dates and material availability.
  • Support the Sales and Operations Planning (S&OP) process by providing short-term execution insights and identifying capacity constraints.
  • Translate demand forecasts into actionable production plans and capacity requirements.
  • Collaborate with Supply Chain and Operations to identify and resolve gaps in capacity or material availability.
  • Coordinate closely with Sales, Customer Service, Quality, Warehouse, and Manufacturing to ensure alignment on production priorities.
  • Align production schedules with customer delivery timelines and service level agreements.
  • Support new product launches by ensuring production schedules and capacity plans are ready to meet introduction timelines.
  • Partner with sourcing and inventory teams to ensure timely availability of raw materials and components.
  • Balance production schedules with inventory targets to optimize working capital and minimize excess inventory or shortages.
  • Support finished goods planning and inventory management processes.
  • Own and maintain planning data within ERP systems, including routings, production rates, and production schedules.
  • Monitor key performance indicators such as on-time delivery, capacity utilization, backlog, plant attainment, production value, and production yield.
  • Prepare and deliver regular reporting and analysis to leadership, including weekly production dashboards and monthly operations dashboards covering yield, OTIF, and backlogs.
  • Identify inefficiencies in planning and scheduling processes and implement improvements to enhance throughput and reliability.
  • Drive lean manufacturing and process optimization initiatives within the planning and scheduling function.
  • Ensure compliance with cGMP, safety standards, and company policies in all planning activities.
  • Develop, document, and standardize standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to production planning and scheduling.
  • Lead, coach, and develop production planners and scheduling personnel, providing guidance and support for professional growth.
  • Establish clear priorities, performance expectations, and accountability for schedule execution across the planning team.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and operational excellence within the production planning function.
