Production Planning Manager

About The Position

The Production Planning Manager leads and manages daily, weekly, and monthly work streams throughout a fulfillment center, including inbound, outbound, and returns processing. The role integrates production plans with fulfillment center leadership to meet business goals, objectives, and KPI targets, while identifying root causes and resolving issues in operational flow. The manager regularly works with customers to review operational performance, capacity constraints and solutions, and throughput across business work streams. The position partners with Operations to plan resources and capacity, optimize workload and shift schedules, and meet service levels, productivity, labor efficiency, and operational efficiency targets. It uses site trends and forecasts to create predictive analytics and compares predicted plans with actual results and customer forecasts. The manager supports fulfillment and returns performance, develops action plans for concerns and improvements, maintains communication with operations and customer planning teams, and oversees reporting, budgets, and business requirements. The role also communicates and enforces company policies and expectations, evaluates performance variances to identify corrective actions, and provides guidance on conveyor safety, sanitation, quality, customer service, and maintenance. It may deliver associate orientation, training, performance reviews, and development, and ensures associates have appropriate tools and that tools and equipment are routinely inspected and maintained. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
1–3 years of logistics industry experience.
2–4 years of experience in a supervisory or management role.
1–3 years of customer service or fulfillment center planning experience.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage daily, weekly, and monthly work streams, including inbound, outbound, and returns processing.
Coordinate production plans with fulfillment center leadership to meet goals, objectives, and KPI targets.
Identify issues, determine root causes, and resolve problems throughout operational workflows.
Interact regularly with customers to review operational performance, capacity constraints and solutions, and throughput.
Partner with Operations on resource and capacity planning to meet KPI metrics, service levels, productivity targets, and efficiency goals.
Plan, manage, and adjust workload and shift schedules to optimize fulfillment center resources.
Create predictive analytics based on site trends and forecasts, and compare plans with actual results and customer forecasts.
Plan and manage fulfillment and returns activities to meet customer accuracy, quality, and timeliness expectations.
Develop and implement action plans to address performance concerns and improve operations.
Maintain communication with operations departments and customer planning to address business priorities and risks.
Support, facilitate, and implement continuous improvement projects.
Manage standard and ad hoc reporting for production planning and communication with operations and customers.
Manage business budgets, goals, and specific requirements.
Communicate, apply, and enforce company philosophies, strategies, policies, procedures, and expectations.
Evaluate performance variances against job standards, identify root causes, and determine corrective actions to maximize quality and productivity.
Provide guidance on conveyor safety, sanitation, quality, customer service, and maintenance.
Deliver associate orientation, training, performance reviews, and development as appropriate.
Ensure associates have access to necessary tools and that tools and equipment are routinely inspected and maintained.
