Production Planning and Control Manager

Balanced Body•Sacramento, CA
•$125,000 - $135,000

About The Position

Balanced Body is hiring a Production Planning and Control Manager to establish end-to-end ownership connecting customer demand, materials availability, and the production floor as the company scales manufacturing operations. The role will build and run a disciplined monthly Sales & Operations Planning (SIOP) cycle, own materials availability and production scheduling, coordinate with an overseas contract manufacturing partner, and support the company’s growing European logistics and e-commerce footprint. The manager will lead the planning team, establish repeatable processes, and define and report planning and materials performance metrics. The position combines strategic process-building with hands-on responsibility for schedule execution, material shortages, and purchase-order recovery.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of combined production planning/master scheduling and materials/purchasing control experience in discrete or mixed-mode manufacturing, including experience in a lead or manager role.
  • Personal experience running or building a manufacturer’s Sales & Operations Planning (SIOP) cycle, with demonstrable results.
  • Demonstrated ownership of material shortage recovery and supplier or purchase-order escalation.
  • Proficiency conducting day-to-day planning in an ERP/MRP system’s scheduling and materials functionality, rather than relying primarily on spreadsheets.
  • Experience coordinating across time zones and cultures with an overseas manufacturing partner, supplier, or plant.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop a small planning team.
  • A track record of remaining calm and decisive when production lines are at risk.
  • Personal accountability for an on-time delivery or schedule-adherence metric, including the ability to describe a specific target and what improved it.

Nice To Haves

  • Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central experience.
  • Automotive or other high-consequence manufacturing experience.
  • Experience overseeing contract or co-manufacturing, ideally with an Asia-based partner.
  • European logistics or 3PL experience.
  • APICS/CPIM certification, or working knowledge of Lean/Kaizen and Theory of Constraints.
  • Portuguese, Spanish, or Mandarin language skills.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and run a monthly Sales & Operations Planning (SIOP) process that translates customer demand and forecasts into a reliable production schedule.
  • Lead the Master Scheduler and Production Planners in developing and maintaining schedules that reflect actual capacity and material constraints.
  • Own recovery of at-risk orders and material shortages; establish a process that assigns each at-risk order a documented plan and named owner within 24 hours.
  • Establish clear ownership and weekly reporting of past-due purchase orders.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for output, quality, and schedule adherence with the overseas contract manufacturing partner.
  • Coordinate with European 3PL and e-commerce launch stakeholders to scale planning and materials processes internationally.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the planning team and strengthen its professional practices.
  • Document and systematize scheduling logic using documented, system-supported processes.
  • Define and report on-time delivery, schedule adherence, stockout, and past-due trends, and use the metrics to drive continuous improvement.

Benefits

  • Medical, dental, and vision coverage.
  • 401(k) with company match.
  • Employer-paid life and long-term disability insurance.
  • Paid time off and holidays.
  • Competitive compensation.
