Production Planning and Control Manager

Balanced Body Inc•Sacramento, CA
•$125,000 - $135,000

About The Position

Balanced Body is creating a new role to connect customer demand, materials availability, and the production floor as the company scales its manufacturing operations. The Production Planning and Control Manager will own outcomes across planning and materials, run a disciplined Sales & Operations Planning (SIOP) cycle, manage materials availability end-to-end, and establish a dependable scheduling system. The role also coordinates production with an overseas manufacturing partner and supports the company's expanding European logistics and e-commerce footprint. The manager leads the Master Scheduler and Production Planners, builds and maintains schedules based on actual capacity and material constraints, and takes direct ownership of at-risk orders and materials shortages. The role develops documented, system-supported planning processes; establishes ownership and reporting for past-due purchase orders; and defines and reports planning and materials KPIs. It also coaches the planning team and works with international manufacturing and logistics stakeholders to support business growth.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of combined experience in production planning or master scheduling and materials or purchasing control in discrete or mixed-mode manufacturing, including experience in a lead or manager role.
  • Personally run or build a manufacturer's Sales & Operations Planning cycle and demonstrate results.
  • Demonstrated ownership of materials shortage recovery and supplier or purchase-order escalation.
  • Proficiency using an ERP/MRP system's native scheduling and materials functionality for day-to-day planning, rather than relying primarily on spreadsheets.
  • Experience coordinating across time zones and cultures with an overseas manufacturing partner, supplier, or plant.
  • Proven ability to lead, coach, and develop a small planning team.
  • Ability to remain composed and decisive when production lines are at risk.
  • Personal accountability for an on-time delivery or schedule-adherence metric, including the ability to discuss a specific target and what improved it.

Nice To Haves

  • Automotive or other high-consequence manufacturing experience where a line stop has an immediate cost.
  • Contract or co-manufacturing oversight experience, ideally with an Asia-based partner.
  • European logistics or 3PL experience.
  • APICS/CPIM certification, or working knowledge of Lean/Kaizen and Theory of Constraints.
  • Portuguese, Spanish, or Mandarin language skills.

Responsibilities

  • Establish and run a monthly Sales & Operations Planning (SIOP) process that translates customer demand and forecasts into a reliable production schedule.
  • Direct the Master Scheduler and Production Planners in creating and maintaining schedules based on actual capacity and material constraints.
  • Own at-risk orders and materials shortages, establishing a recovery process with a documented plan and named owner for each at-risk order within 24 hours.
  • Establish clear ownership and a weekly published metric for past-due purchase orders.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for output, quality, and schedule adherence with the overseas contract manufacturing partner.
  • Partner with European 3PL and e-commerce launch stakeholders to scale planning and materials processes internationally.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop the planning team and establish repeatable professional practices.
  • Document scheduling logic and move planning knowledge into a documented, system-supported process.
  • Define and report on-time delivery, schedule adherence, stockout, and past-due trends, and use the results to drive continuous improvement.

Benefits
