About The Position

Establishes, manages, reviews and maintains production schedules for assigned work centers to ensure that the master production schedule is being executed. Will analyze work center loads for effective capacity planning. Will also ensure accurate inventories by effectively addressing any labor reporting issues. Takes an active role in daily production meetings and sales and customer service inquiries. Maintains and reviews shop dispatch list ensuring completion of manufacturing to meet customer ship requirements. Will answer related inquiries for all levels of the organization. This position has a close working relationship with Operations, Customer Service, Product Engineering, and Accounting. Guidance may be provided on possible sources of information and methods to complete tasks. Able to meet deadlines and exercise judgment regarding related items.

Requirements

  • Associates degree (A.A.) or equivalent from two-year college or technical school; or one to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • APICS certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Daily analysis, planning, and review of work center capacity based on requirements loaded by Customer Service and Master Scheduler.
  • Verify labor reporting accuracy.
  • Pull resources from various levels to orchestrate effective resolution of root cause of any issues found.
  • Maintain and review dispatch lists targeting customer promise delivery dates.
  • Effective sequencing of jobs, processes and assignments to individual work centers or lines and providing interface between the shop floor, group leaders, and supporting planners.
  • Review, communication and effective implementation of engineering changes as they relate to manufacturing /production activities.
  • Communicate with customer service on status of sales orders and estimated completion.
  • Ensure information needed for labeling of finished goods is accurate and correct.
  • Attend daily production meeting.
  • Communicate with various departments on any potential production issues or needs.
  • Implement material substitutions as needed, coordinating these with purchasing to ensure inventory accuracy.
  • Perform cycle counts and reconcile discrepancies including root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions.
  • Maintain effective communications with internal customers regarding inventory accuracy, engineering changes, shop order closeouts, and labor reporting.
  • Establish and maintain work procedures and records for this position’s job responsibilities, as they relate to and in accordance with the Maysteel quality system (ISO).
  • Maintain current knowledge for this position and within the work area through continuing education, subscriptions, certifications, and memberships.
  • Participate in related staff, team and/or task group meetings to ensure the continuous improvement of processes, methods, productivity and quality, while reducing costs.
  • Participate in in-house training programs.
  • Ensure that all operations are within established guidelines and conform to Maysteel health and safety standards.
  • Support a continuous study of internal processes and methods, research new technology and develop proposals for application of such technology for the purposes of cost reduction and process improvement.
  • Use the ERP system to manage and adjust production schedules, review work center capacity, maintain dispatch lists, validate labor reporting, and ensure accurate shop order and inventory data to support cross‑functional communication and on‑time customer delivery.
