About The Position

At Simmonds Precision Products, Inc., we design, manufacture, and support precision aerospace components and systems that serve both commercial and military aviation customers worldwide. The Production Planner plays a critical role in supporting manufacturing operations by developing and maintaining production schedules that align customer demand, material availability, labor capacity, and operational priorities to ensure on-time delivery and efficient production flow. This position requires strong organizational skills, analytical thinking, attention to detail, and a commitment to quality, operational excellence, and continuous improvement within a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent
  • Experience in production planning, scheduling, manufacturing operations, or supply chain coordination in a manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and interpret production schedules, work orders, engineering documentation, and manufacturing data.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Basic computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
  • Experience working with ERP/MRP systems and production planning software.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Business, or related field preferred.
  • Previous experience in aerospace or precision manufacturing environments.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement practices.
  • APICS/CPIM certification or related production planning training.
  • Experience with capacity planning, inventory control, and demand forecasting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and manage daily and weekly production schedules to support manufacturing operations and customer delivery requirements.
  • Coordinate with Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Engineering, Quality, and Materials teams to ensure production priorities and schedules are executed effectively.
  • Monitor material availability, inventory levels, capacity constraints, and production status to identify and resolve scheduling conflicts or shortages.
  • Release, prioritize, and track production work orders in accordance with business demands and operational objectives.
  • Analyze production data, work center capacity, and manufacturing performance to support schedule adherence and operational efficiency.
  • Communicate schedule changes, production impacts, and recovery plans to leadership and cross-functional teams.
  • Maintain accurate planning parameters, scheduling data, and ERP/MRP system transactions.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives focused on inventory management, throughput, on-time delivery, and production flow optimization.
  • Generate production reports, planning metrics, and status updates as required.
  • Collaborate with supervisors and operations personnel to support customer requirements and production goals.
