About The Position

Luxfer Magtech specializes in developing, manufacturing, and supplying a broad range of products that safeguard and protect, ranging from flameless ration heaters that give our U.S. Military a hot meal; innovative chemical response kits designed to detect and decontaminate chemical warfare agents; to nutritious hot food and beverage options for militaries and first responders. The Planner/Scheduler is responsible for planning, scheduling, coordinating, and monitoring production activities to support customer requirements, inventory objectives, and operational performance goals. This position serves as a key link between Operations, Supply Chain, Customer Service, Quality, and Production to ensure efficient material flow, schedule attainment, and on-time delivery performance. The Planner/Scheduler is responsible for developing and maintaining production schedules, analyzing production capacity and material availability, managing ERP planning data, monitoring inventory levels, and driving continuous improvement efforts related to scheduling and production execution.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Associate degree required; Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • 3–5 years of manufacturing planning, production scheduling, supply chain, inventory control, or operations experience required.
  • Experience working within a manufacturing environment utilizing MRP/ERP systems.
  • Experience with Epicor ERP preferred.
  • Strong understanding of production scheduling, capacity planning, inventory management, material flow, work-in-process control, and manufacturing operations.
  • Working knowledge of MRP concepts, production planning methodologies, and inventory control practices.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications with advanced Excel skills preferred.
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills with the ability to interpret production and inventory data.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively across all levels of the organization.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, exercise sound judgment, and make fact-based decisions.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.
  • Frequent computer use, keyboarding, data entry, visual concentration, and review of detailed information.
  • Occasional walking, standing, bending, reaching, lifting, carrying, and handling of materials, documents, and inventory-related items up to 20 pounds.
  • Ability to work within both office and manufacturing environments and travel between operational areas as needed.
  • Occasional exposure to industrial noise, dust, moving machinery, forklifts, warehouse traffic, and varying temperature conditions.
  • Required use of task-appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) when entering designated production, warehouse, or operational areas.
  • Candidates must be authorized to work in the US.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations Management, Business, Engineering, or related field preferred.
  • Experience with Epicor ERP preferred.
  • Lean Manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and execute production schedules to support customer demand, inventory objectives, and operational priorities.
  • Analyze production capacity, labor availability, equipment constraints, and material availability to create achievable production schedules.
  • Monitor schedule adherence and proactively address production disruptions, shortages, bottlenecks, and capacity constraints.
  • Review demand requirements, inventory levels, work-in-process, and finished goods inventory to support effective production planning decisions.
  • Coordinate daily with Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Customer Service, and Manufacturing leadership regarding production priorities and schedule changes.
  • Maintain planning parameters, bills of material, work orders, and production data within Epicor ERP.
  • Support production process analysis, inventory, and scheduling reports to identify trends, risks, and improvement opportunities.
  • Track daily, weekly, and monthly production performance against established plans and communicate results to management.
  • Support material planning activities by identifying potential shortages, excess inventory, and supply risks affecting production schedules.
  • Support cycle count activities, support physical inventories, and drive inventory accuracy improvements.
  • Assist in establishing and maintaining key performance indicators (KPIs) related to schedule attainment, inventory performance, throughput, lead times, and customer delivery performance.
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on production flow, inventory management, scheduling effectiveness, waste reduction, and operational efficiency.
  • Support Lean Manufacturing initiatives including Kaizen events, value stream mapping, visual management, 5S, and process improvement activities.
  • Develop and maintain planning and scheduling procedures, work instructions, and process documentation.
  • Serve as a backup resource for critical planning and scheduling functions during the absence of the Scheduling/Planning Manager.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
