About The Position

The Production Planner is responsible for ensuring customer orders are fulfilled as committed. This role requires an individual who can thrive in the daily pressures of a manufacturing plant, enjoying the planning and prioritization of work while maintaining strong partnerships and communication with other departments. Success is measured by the ability to proactively analyze sales orders, prioritize competing demands, and drive action to meet shipment goals. The flavor business is dynamic, requiring the candidate to adapt to change while maintaining attention to detail and a sense of urgency.

Requirements

  • Prior work experience (full-time, part-time, internship) is required.
  • Proficiency in using ERP planning modules (Sage, SAP, etc.) or the ability to quickly build fluency.
  • Proficiency across the standard suite of Office tools with strength in Excel.
  • Demonstrated skills required to be successful in this role.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior planning experience, particularly regarding food or other products with shelf life constraints.
  • Prior experience in a manufacturing environment, especially food or similar regulatory requirements.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred (business administration, engineering, economics, or supply chain).

Responsibilities

  • Plan production of work orders to align with material availability and site capacity.
  • Calculate and create production work orders.
  • Identify raw material issues and partner with Procurement to resolve them.
  • Ensure smart lot utilization of inventory.
  • Lead fast and efficient review processes to flag concerns and drive actions.
  • Manage orders within planning and scheduling processes until final release to production.
  • Coordinate with sister sites and third-party locations to manage raw, intermediate, and finished goods needs.
  • Partner with the production team to balance workload and ensure products are shipped as planned.
  • Partner with the warehouse to ensure inventory is accurate and current.
  • Maintain strong, positive, and effective communication with Sales & Customer Service.
  • Review all new orders and change requests in assigned production sectors within the allotted time.
  • Ensure credibility internally and to customers regarding delivery times.
  • Accurately provide shipping dates to the customer service team and convey any changes related to production or raw material delays.
  • Partner with other sites to ensure clear, effective inter-site material and production planning.
  • Serve as backup for the site production planning manager, requiring proficiency in planning for various production systems and strong communication skills to manage meetings and processes.
