Multivac, a leading worldwide provider of industrial packaging and processing solutions, is seeking an experienced Production Planner in Kansas City. This is a unique opportunity to impact key business processes with significant impact at a successful, medium-sized organization. To maintain a formalized production planning program to maximize efficiency, balance inventory investment and meet customer delivery dates of manufactured products from the Manufacturing Groups. Creates routings and process planned production orders to satisfy demand for the New Machine, Remanufacturing, Chamber production, CNC Machine, Manual Machining and Gasket centers. Advise management of the status of WIP (work in progress), material availability potential scheduling conflicts to ensure that personnel, equipment, materials and services are provided as needed. Coordinates with Machine Shop programmers, purchasing, engineering, sales, service, parts and shipping departments in order to communicate any issues, concerns, or problems that could potentially compromise scheduled due dates or commitments.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in business, supply chain management, or related discipline and one year related experience in a manufacturing or logistics environment; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Word and Excel.
  • Working knowledge of ERP systems and inventory, project management, contact management, and manufacturing software required.
  • Current valid driver’s license and the ability to obtain a passport for travel as required by position.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of SAP and Qlikview preferred.
  • APICS certification or equivalent body of knowledge associated with manufacturing and production activities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform the “make or buy” decision on all new materials.
  • Review orders passed from engineering to assign routings to all in house produced components and assemblies.
  • Create and manage SAP production floor work orders on a day to day basis to ensure work center schedule accuracy (making the actual schedule match the planned schedule), expediting rush orders w/ follow-up, creating and maintaining a rush order report.
  • Convert all project related production orders from the planned status to created based on available capacity in the respective work centers.
  • Analyze new orders with respect to capacity planning and material availability based upon the Master Schedule and present conflict resolution when necessary.
  • Perform exception reporting on all MRP assigned materials to ensure business needs as well as customer needs are met, adjusting souring accordingly.
  • Cost quoting within SAP for Manufacturing, engineering, and parts sales; using a created BOM and routing.
  • Determine cost effectiveness of production vs purchasing on all sourcing changes to in house production.
  • Ensure all work orders for shop floor activities are in the proper statuses and creating standard reports on production order processing accuracy per department.
  • Examine BOMs of new orders to determine if material sourcing needs to be changed or updated to follow the Manufacturing Strategic Plan.
  • Provide interdepartmental feedback involving MRP, material availability, bills of materials, item master data, lead times, costing, units of measure, routings, etc.
  • Provide input into the item master, routing and work center files. Create BOM and labor standards to provide COGs. Gather information to formulate standard pricing of shop activities. Provide automated reporting methods validating BOM and labor standards.
  • Plan for the highest sustainable rate of output within each product group, provide available capacity and “open slot” reporting for customer sales.
  • Update data to reflect the changing standard in Manufacturing via the item master.
  • Learn and understand Manufacturing Purchasing and be a back-up when required.
