About The Position

The Production Operator is a versatile worker that performs a variety of tasks including but not limited to operations of assigned machinery, department housekeeping, and working in various workstations. This employee ensures equipment runs efficiently through regular cleaning and routine maintenance and completes associated paperwork for each job and promotes proper manufacturing practices, including safety, quality, environmental, and food safety.

Requirements

  • Ability to do physical labor and other strenuous physical tasks.
  • A safety mindset and commitment to one's own safety and those of their fellow co-workers.
  • Basic computer literacy
  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Must be punctual and reliable.
  • Ability to stand, sit, walk, and maintain balance for extensive periods of time.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to climb, including ladders
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks; stretch, turn, twist, and reach overhead; bend, crouch, squat, kneel and stoop for extensive periods of time.
  • Wearing required PPE including hard hat, gloves, hearing protection, safety shoes, protective eyewear, and long pants/ sleeved shirt.

Nice To Haves

  • High School Diploma or GED preferred.
  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred
  • Previous experience driving a forklift preferred
  • Basic mechanical aptitude preferred

Responsibilities

  • Safely and efficiently operate a forklift to move and transport product/materials within the plant to ensure products are shipped on time to our customers.
  • Operate the Front-End Loader and other equipment to keep plant supplied by moving and staging salt on plant premises.
  • Operate packaging and bagging machines using the proper procedures to have products placed in correct bags or totes.
  • Unload railcars in a safe and efficient manner, including operating specialized machinery to facilitate the unloading process.
  • Keeping the warehouse workspace clean and organized.
  • Completing necessary paperwork related to inventory movements and shipment details.
  • Comply with all policies, laws, and regulations including health, safety, environmental, and food safety.
  • Champion safety and create a safe environment for employees and visitors.
  • Tasks such as cleaning, sweeping, sanitizing, cleaning bins, unloading package material, labels, or boxes, making trash bales, or other duties as assigned.
