About The Position

Venator is looking for Production Operators for an entry level role in the chemicals industry. The Production Operator is responsible for the timely and safe manufacturing of multiple product lines. The incumbent is expected to contribute to solutions of problems relating to products and processes. Venator is a global manufacturer and marketer of chemical products that comprise a broad range of pigments and additives that bring color and vibrancy to buildings, protect and extend product life, and reduce energy consumption. We market our products globally to a diversified group of industrial customers through two segments: Titanium Dioxide, which consists of our TiO2 business, and Performance Additives, which consists of our functional additives, color pigments and timber treatment businesses. Based in Wynyard, U.K., Venator employs approximately 3,500 associates and sells its products in more than 110 countries.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 2+ years’ experience in manufacturing.
  • Mechanical or nonchemical manufacturing experience can be considered.
  • Must have a level of proficiency with internet, email, and Microsoft programs.
  • Previous experience as a licensed forklift operator.
  • Ability to wear a full-face respirator.
  • Communicates tactfully and effectively both verbally and in writing and maintains effective work relations with those encountered during employment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and reasoning skills to troubleshoot process operations.
  • Must be detail oriented and be able to recognize common errors, malfunctions, and/or deviations in documentation, quality, equipment, and/or performance standards.

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years’ experience in chemicals, operating machinery, or batching is a plus!
  • Chemical experience is preferred.
  • A certified production technician will be considered in lieu of experience.
  • Yard switcher, other movable equipment experience a plus.
  • Systems can be manual, or PLC controlled.

Responsibilities

  • Run multiple machines and other equipment in production areas.
  • Collaborate with team members with different backgrounds and perspectives.
  • Assist other employees in accomplishments of Venator company goals.
  • Follow instructions and perform other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
  • Actively participates in Environmental, Health, and Safety Initiatives as set forth by the company including use and maintenance of appropriate PPE.
  • Participates in and completes company-required training programs.
  • Prepares chemical batches according to batch sheets and SOPs.
  • Understand reaction, filtration, and adjustment process.
  • Batch production can include bulk bags, 50+ lb. bag or drum dumping.
  • Calculating adjustments.
  • Perform specific gravity, pH, and calculations to adjust products within customer specifications.
  • Operate reactors, scrubbers, heat exchangers, filter press or bowl, pumps, cooling towers and other equipment to support the production process.
  • Use / interface with variety of control systems to include DCS, Wonderware, Citech and local PLCs.
  • Load / unload product into tankers, railcars, totes, or other consumer packaging.
  • Safely operates forklift and yard switches as needed.
  • Responsible for checking equipment to ensure it is working properly, troubleshoots and escalates any issues.
  • Sample product and coordinator with lab on product quality, making any necessary adjustments.
  • Complete batch sheets, scale tickets, and other paperwork in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Effectively communicate with Leader, peers, lab during course of shift and as changeover on status of systems, changes in process conditions, unsafe conditions, and daily objectives.
