About The Position

The Production Operator I is responsible for operating machinery, ensuring product quality, and maintaining a safe work environment. This role involves reading job specifications, making machine adjustments, monitoring operations, and performing minor maintenance. The operator will also assist with machine setup, product handling, and reducing downtime. A strong commitment to safety and Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) is essential.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and six months related experience and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to write simple correspondence.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one situations to other employees of the organization.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply commonsense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Basic understanding of mechanical principles.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and adjust machine.

Responsibilities

  • Reads job specifications to determine machine adjustments and material requirements.
  • Sets stops or guides to specified length as indicated by scale, rule, or template.
  • Activates machine and observes machine operation to detect work piece defects or machine malfunction.
  • Inspects finished product to determine accuracy of machine operation.
  • Performs minor machine maintenance such as oiling machines and making adjustments.
  • Assists coworkers to set up machine, and to stack, mark, pack, and transport finished product.
  • Reduces downtime by assuring tasks are performed promptly.
  • Complies with safety and GMP requirements.
  • Supports a culture of safe production and operations; follows all safety rules and procedures.
  • Actively participates in the safety program by engaging in training, reporting safety concerns, submitting safety suggestions, and correcting or reporting workplace hazards.
  • Assists with communicating safety information to new employees.
  • Fulfills responsibilities as outlined in the company safety management plan.
