About The Position

Fiber Materials Inc. (FMI) is seeking a Production Operator for its Densification team. FMI has been a leading provider of high-temperature materials and composites for over 50 years, serving industries like the Department of Defense and NASA. The Maine facility specializes in multidirectional reinforced Carbon/Carbon (C/C) and Ceramic Matrix Composites (CMCs) used in critical applications such as thermal protection systems, re-entry vehicle nose tips, and rocket motor components. These materials are integral to major space initiatives like the Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle and NASA's Mars 2020 mission heat shield, as well as missile programs, jet engine airfoils, and military vehicle armor. The Production Operator role is crucial in supporting the manufacturing team, with a focus on safety and goal achievement. The position operates on a rotating 4 days on - 4 days off schedule, from 5:45 am to 6:00 pm, with a starting pay rate of $25/hr.

Requirements

  • Minimum GED or High School Diploma
  • Previous manufacturing experience
  • Able to read, write and understand job specifications
  • Basic math aptitude

Responsibilities

  • Loading/unloading, operate and monitor high temperature and high pressure equipment
  • Inspect products to ensure specifications are met
  • Perform mechanical maintenance of equipment
  • Perform data calculations
  • Recording of process data and manufacturing records for processes, parts and materials
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Opportunity to learn and apply Lean principles as part Continuous Improvement activities
