About The Position

Welders Supply & Gases is seeking a dependable, safety-focused Production Operator to join our Louisville fill plant team. This hands-on position is responsible for safely filling, inspecting, labeling, and preparing compressed gas cylinders for delivery to our customers. This position is a good fit for someone who enjoys physical work, takes pride in doing a job correctly, and can consistently contribute to a steady, team-oriented work environment. Previous compressed gas or welding-industry experience is helpful but not required. We provide hands-on training for the right candidate.

  • Ability to communicate clearly and ask questions when instructions or conditions are unclear
  • Must be able to frequently lift 50–75 pounds.
  • Must be able to safely maneuver cylinders weighing more than 100 pounds by rolling them or using appropriate carts and equipment.
  • Must be able to stand, walk, bend, reach, push, and pull for extended periods.
  • Must be comfortable performing repetitive physical work throughout the shift.
  • Must be able to follow all required safety procedures and wear assigned personal protective equipment.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Previous production, manufacturing, warehouse, forklift, welding-supply, or industrial experience is helpful but not required

Responsibilities

  • Safely fill high-pressure and low-pressure gas cylinders and liquid containers according to established safety and quality procedures.
  • Inspect returned cylinders for dents, cracks, burns, damaged valves, and other potential concerns.
  • Accurately label, tag, document, and prepare cylinders for shipment.
  • Load and unload cylinders from company vehicles and pallets.
  • Safely move and position cylinders using proper rolling methods, carts, and other equipment.
  • Secure cylinders properly during handling, storage, and transportation.
  • Clean cylinders, remove outdated labels, and perform minor cylinder maintenance.
  • Read and interpret cylinder labels, markings, color coding, and product information.
  • Maintain accurate quality-control and cylinder-fill records.
  • Monitor inventory levels and help maintain sufficient product to meet customer demand.
  • Assist with specialty gas laboratory and other plant operations as needed.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
