About The Position

The Production Manager achieves or exceeds financial, quality, and delivery objectives. In line with Owens Corning's vision, this role will focus on strategies and action plans to improve the engagement of production personnel. The Production Manager helps the plant reach the next level in Health and Safety performance. There will also be an emphasis on continuous improvement of workstations to enhance operational efficiency and effectiveness. The leader who obtains this position must therefore be an agent of change who defines short-term and long-term objectives and creates a positive environment that includes an unconditional commitment to safety and employee respect.

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and MS Project
  • Works with integrity and respect, demonstrating a high degree of tact and diplomacy
  • Must be familiar with various measurement and information analysis devices
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or Operations Management
  • Minimum of 5 to 10 years of experience in manufacturing management
  • Experience, knowledge, or training in Lean / Six Sigma methodology
  • Bilingualism (French/English). This position will occasionally require discussions in English with our corporate office, located in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • A Lean / Six Sigma certification will be a considerable asset
  • A good understanding of human and financial resources operations is highly desired

Responsibilities

  • Implement strategic programs aimed at improving workforce efficiency, on-time delivery, continuous quality improvement, workplace safety, and exceeding customer requirements
  • Generate monthly reports to effectively communicate the contributions of our programs, deadlines, on-time delivery, continuous improvement efforts, manufacturing issues, and needs
  • Generate a company culture focused on facts, concrete results, and good behaviors
  • Provide input for the selection of appropriate manufacturing equipment to ensure the most cost-effective solution is available within company budgetary guidelines
  • Maintain manufacturing personnel by training employees; maintain a safe working environment; develop growth and advancement opportunities for employees
  • Achieve personnel results by communicating job objectives and expectations; planning, monitoring, and evaluating work results; coaching, advising, and disciplining employees; initiating, coordinating, and applying systems, policies, and procedures
  • Manage production planning systems via production planners; maintain good manufacturing practices, enforce health, safety, and quality standards, improve products and processes
  • Work closely with the Plant Manager and Supply Director to effectively develop purchasing and logistics systems, as well as production and inventory control requirements
  • Achieve financial objectives by developing budgets, controlling costs, and optimizing the use of available assets
  • Provide the necessary leadership to ensure product quality conforms to specifications and criteria for all products shipped from the plant
  • Ensure efficient use of plant personnel and equipment to achieve productivity and profitability in meeting the plant's business objectives
  • Lead a trained and motivated staff capable of implementing and executing the business strategy
  • Work with all departments to actively pursue production excellence programs by encouraging a positive partnership focused on common goals
  • Develop and implement with the Plant Manager and Continuous Improvement Manager an annual operating plan including a cost-reduction project plan, a production department budget, the elimination of non-added values, and the definition of Six Sigma & Kaizen continuous improvement programs throughout the plant
  • Communicate effectively to facilitate meetings
  • Stay informed about new technologies and industry practices
