The Production MRP Clerk is responsible for releasing production work orders, tracking orders, investigating problems, and maintaining databases. This role involves performing physical inventory counts, reconciling stock, and handling routine clerical duties. The clerk will systematically release planned work orders in the MRP system for the Fab Shop and Spot Weld shop floor, ensuring components are available and considering equipment backlogs. Analysis of work center capacities, staff resources, and material availability is crucial for efficient management. The position requires reviewing material and component shortages and interacting with supervisors and purchasing to address impacts on production timelines. Maintaining inventory levels, ordering new stock, and establishing backup systems for high-demand items are key responsibilities. The clerk will input cycle count data, assess inventory reports to identify needs for recurring deliveries, and provide inventory reports to management. Performing work order WIP receipts and addressing quantity variances are also part of the role. Developing vendor relationships, maintaining records of goods received and shipments, and managing the inventory system, including software upgrades, are expected. Frequent spot and partial physical inventory audits, as well as assisting with weekly or daily physical inventory audits, are required. The clerk will manage work order requirements generated by MRP, review MRP messages, release messages to create work order headers, and review work order details. Coordination of programming/drawings to workstations and responding to work order change requests, coordinating changes with machine operators/supervisors, are also necessary. This role acts as the liaison for all work order changes and is responsible for providing error-free work.
