About The Position

The Production MRP Clerk is responsible for releasing production work orders, tracking orders, and investigating problems. This role involves maintaining databases, performing physical inventory counts, and reconciling stock with computer reports. The clerk will also perform routine clerical duties.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in an applicable field, and / or 3 years of experience directly related to the production, organization, and management of manufacturing materials.

Responsibilities

  • Systematically release planned work orders in the MRP system for the Fab Shop and Spot Weld shop floor based on component availability, calculated start dates, and equipment backlogs.
  • Analyze work center capacities, staff resources, and material availability on a work order basis for efficient management.
  • Review material and component shortages and interact with department supervisors and/or the purchasing department if shortages impact on-time production.
  • Maintain consistent stock of inventory, ordering new stock up to pre-authorized limits as inventory dwindles.
  • Establish and maintain a backup system/process for high-demand items.
  • Input cycle count data for the Fab Shop, Spot Weld, Stockroom, and any other department as needed.
  • Assess inventory reports and order patterns to identify items in need of automatic, recurring delivery.
  • Provide inventory reports to the Materials Manager, Purchasing, and applicable Department Supervisors.
  • Perform work order WIP receipts for work orders delivering to the stockroom, addressing any variance between required and delivered quantities.
  • Develop and maintain good working relationships with vendors.
  • Maintain accurate daily records of goods received and shipments made.
  • Manage and maintain the inventory system; facilitate upgrades to related database and/or software under the direction of the Materials Manager or Purchasing department.
  • Conduct frequent spot and partial audits of physical inventory.
  • Assist with periodic (at least weekly, if not daily) physical inventory audits.
  • Manage work order requirements generated by MRP for discrete manufactured parts by reviewing MRP messages, releasing messages to create work order headers, and reviewing work order details after generation.
  • Coordinate the release of programming/drawings to workstations as required.
  • Respond to work order change requests from the Plant Manager or Materials Manager as needed; coordinate work order changes with machine operators/supervisors for work in process.
  • Act as the liaison through which all work order changes must be approved and expedited once work order detail records are created.
  • Provide error-free work to all internal and external customers as related to the output of their position.
