About The Position

This entry-level mechanical designer supports a team developing and integrating equipment into Honda facilities. The associate works on equipment development for business plan and new model projects, from concept development through completed design, ensuring designs meet target criteria and are optimized as solutions.

The role provides mechanical designs for automated production equipment used to assemble and build products, and supports installation and maturation of that equipment in production facilities. It also includes on-site support for installation, system setup, and control-system maturation. The associate develops and maintains critical-path schedules for assigned work and delivers designs for small to medium projects of low to medium complexity. The role is primarily office-based, with some manufacturing-floor work, and requires project-based travel to Honda facilities or external equipment vendors as needed.

Requirements

• A four-year Bachelor of Science degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent work experience.
• 0–2 years of experience.
• Knowledge of 3D CAE systems and software.
• Technical communication skills, both written and oral.
• Willingness to travel locally, regionally, and internationally as required on a project basis to Honda facilities or external equipment vendors.

Nice To Haves

• Co-op experience preferred.
• Background in automated equipment development.

Responsibilities

• Provide mechanical designs for automated production equipment used to assemble and build products, and support installation and maturation in production facilities.
• Work within an engineering team to understand design requirements and create or modify automated production equipment.
• Provide on-site support for installation, system setup, and maturation of production-equipment control systems.
• Create and maintain critical-path schedules for assigned work and deliver control-system design deliverables aligned with project milestones for small to medium, low- to medium-complexity projects.
• Conduct and attend design reviews to ensure design standards are met and deliverables satisfy specification requirements.
• Continuously develop relevant manufacturing-technology knowledge by learning new skills, processes, and technologies.
