About The Position

The Material Handler is responsible for efficiently collecting, loading, shipping, and receiving products to support seamless warehouse operations. This intermediate-level role requires safely operating forklift trucks and other advanced material-handling equipment to optimize workflow, support production schedules, and ensure accurate inventory management. In addition to operating equipment, Material Handlers are expected to perform routine inspections, identify maintenance needs, and follow safety protocols to maintain equipment reliability.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to pass both the written and practical forklift test to obtain forklift certification at Comfort Research.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment.
  • Ability to read and understand job aids and other instructional material printed in English preferred.
  • Good verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to move and manipulate products/materials weighing up to 50 pounds, involving frequent twisting, lifting, turning, and bending.
  • Ability to continuously pull, push, and tug materials.
  • Strong commitment to safety in the workplace.
  • Ability to use computers, scanning devices, and other warehouse technology.

Nice To Haves

  • 6-12 months of experience in a warehouse or distribution environment preferred.
  • Previous experience operating powered forklift trucks preferred.
  • Working knowledge of material-handling equipment and warehouse operations is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate the Core Values of Comfort Research in daily actions, execution of tasks, and interactions with others.
  • Operate forklifts, hand trucks, and other material-handling equipment safely and efficiently.
  • Load and unload products from warehouse racks per production and distribution center requirements to meet production goals.
  • Ensure timely replenishment of materials to support production and maintain uninterrupted workflow.
  • Use wireless RF scanning equipment to track inventory accurately and maintain up-to-date activity logs.
  • Inspect and perform routine maintenance on forklifts and other material-handling equipment; identify and report safety hazards, product damages, or inventory discrepancies.
  • Consolidate partial pallets and move stock to appropriate storage or shipping locations.
  • Safely lift, move, and manipulate products/materials up to 50 pounds independently and heavier loads with assistance.
  • Follow safety guidelines and company protocols to ensure a safe working environment.
  • Maintain efficiency in production processes to help meet daily output goals.
  • Cross-train on various warehouse functions and rotate through tasks as needed to support operational flexibility.
  • Perform housekeeping duties to ensure the safety and cleanliness of the work area.
  • Support the Production team in shared goals and initiatives.
