McGraw Hill, the leading provider of digital and print educational resources, is looking for a Production Manager. The Production Manager is a highly organized, detail-oriented team player who plays a critical role in supporting the Creative Team throughout the entire lifecycle of a project. This individual is essential in helping the team stay on track, meet deadlines, and deliver high-quality work through strong collaboration, foresight, and production expertise. This is a remote position open to applicants authorized to work for any employer within the United States. The role is remote, but must be able to commute to the Columbus, Ohio. Due to the volume of file transfers required, a hardwired internet connection is essential when working remotely.

Requirements

  • A strong understanding of production workflows, file setup, printing processes, and cross-functional team structures
  • Proactive, detail-oriented, and solutions-driven skills, with the ability to anticipate team needs and ensure accuracy across all deliverables
  • Ability to work remotely while commuting as needed to the Columbus, Ohio office for package bulking, collaboration with Manufacturing, and access to on-site materials
  • A hardwired internet connection for reliable handling of large file transfers in a remote environment
  • Experience setting up and managing project details across databases, Smartsheet, Basecamp, and server environments
  • Ability to coordinate printing and packaging workflows, including file preparation, approvals, and distribution
  • Experience overseeing sample packaging processes, including communicating specifications, supporting bulking meetings, and preparing final files
  • Ability to manage reprint workflows, including both minor revisions and major updates, with proper documentation and approvals
  • Ability to support exhibit and event needs, including booth graphics, promotional materials, and shipping logistics
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Field Design & Production, on file releases and campaign execution
  • Experience coordinating vendor projects, including project setup, specification sharing, and file archiving
  • Ability to provide and manage reference files for internal and international teams, maintaining organized packaging catalogs
  • Ability to support and optimize Smartsheet workflows, including project intake, timeline tracking, and team visibility
  • Professional experience with the following tools: FileMaker Pro, InDesign, Adobe Acrobat Pro, Excel, Word, Basecamp, and Smartsheet
  • Ability to access and work within Oracle (via virtual desktop environments such as WVD) and Ariba (P2P systems)

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Photoshop and Illustrator is preferred but not required

Responsibilities

  • Proactively work with marketing partners and printers to understand printing needs, quantities, specifications, and costs before creative work begins
  • Act as the scope expert by communicating the printing plan to managers and designers to ensure successful file planning
  • Serve as the specification expert by providing designers with detailed setup instructions, correct file sizes, templates, and print requirements to ensure production-ready files
  • Oversee product sampling workflows by coordinating across Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing, Product Operations, Production Design & Development, and Inventory
  • Act as the final delivery expert by confirming files are correctly set up for print
  • Ensure every project and all related details are consistently and accurately set up for successful execution
  • Ensure all completed projects are properly archived for future access
  • Serve as an ambassador for best practices, providing guidance and support from project kickoff through final delivery
  • Maintain and manage the marketing production database, including archival of creative assets and packaging specifications used across teams
  • Continuously assess and improve processes to enhance efficiency, consistency, and quality of deliverables
  • Manage and evolve information management processes within Smartsheet, including creating new workflows and optimizing existing ones
