The Supervisor of Operations’ position is responsible for supervising shop employees in a manufacturing and assembly environment. This position plans and assigns work, coaches/develops, motivates, counsels, and disciplines employees, implements policies and procedures and recommends improvements in production methods, equipment, operating procedures and working conditions.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear. The employee frequently is required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to sit; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 65 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Working conditions can be dirty, extreme hot/cold temps, loud noises.
  • Travel % = 5% or less.

Responsibilities

  • Provides leadership & ensures effective employee relations. Provide employee coaching and development. Makes employment decisions. Resolve employee issues.
  • Maintain effective work flow by monitoring steps of the process; observing process control points and equipment; monitoring personnel and resources; studying methods; implementing cost reductions; developing reporting procedures and systems; facilitating corrections to malfunctions within process control points; initiating and fostering a spirit of cooperation within and between departments.
  • Complete production plan by effectively scheduling and assigning personnel; establishing priorities; monitoring progress; revising plans; resolving problems; reporting results of the processing flow on shift production summaries.
  • Drive continuous improvement in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, and Morale to achieve positive results in all areas. Work to continuously improve in all areas.
  • Enforce organization standards and assist in the revision or formation of new policies.
  • Maintain a safe and clean work environment by educating and directing personnel on 5S, housekeeping, equipment preventative maintenance, and maintaining compliance with established policies and procedures.
  • Manage departmental performance measures, including visual controls and provides regular progress reports to manager.
  • Manage Non-Conforming Material reports so material is dispositioned in a timely manner.
  • Performs accident investigations and lead corrective actions.
  • Report on inventory levels.
  • Manages department priorities.
  • Tracks absenteeism and timekeeping.
