About The Position

This role offers the chance to lead one of the largest structural steel fabrication operations in the region, directing and developing a team of more than 100 skilled employees through a strong team of front-line supervisors. You will influence the future of a growing organization through continuous improvement and operational excellence, partnering directly with senior leadership on strategic initiatives and building a long-term career with opportunities for increased leadership responsibilities. As Production Manager, you will establish the vision and direction for shop operations by empowering people, developing talent, and creating an environment where safety, quality, accountability, and performance thrive. Success in this role will be measured not only by production results but by your ability to build engaged, high-performing teams, develop strong frontline leadership, improve operational efficiency through Lean thinking and continuous improvement, remove barriers before they affect production, create a culture of accountability, ownership, and collaboration, and balance customer commitments with employee development and long-term operational success.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading large manufacturing or fabrication teams.
  • Strong coaching and people development skills.
  • The ability to make sound decisions in a fast-paced production environment.
  • A continuous improvement mindset.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
  • A passion for building teams, solving complex challenges, and delivering results.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering or a related discipline preferred.
  • 7–10 years of progressive leadership experience in structural steel or heavy manufacturing.
  • Working knowledge of AISC, AWS and CWB standards.
  • Strong understanding of fabrication processes, FCAW welding, and blueprint interpretation.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies is highly desirable.
  • AWS and/or CWB certifications are considered an asset.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership for all fabrication shop operations while ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality execution.
  • Lead, coach, and mentor supervisors and foremen responsible for daily production.
  • Establish priorities and allocate resources to meet production commitments.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives that increase productivity, quality, and operational performance.
  • Collaborate with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, HR, and Project Management to achieve business objectives.
  • Promote a culture where safety is everyone’s responsibility.
  • Make sound business decisions regarding staffing, scheduling, workflow, and resource allocation.
  • Support talent development, succession planning, hiring, and employee performance management.
  • Champion operational excellence while maintaining exceptional customer service.
