About The Position

The 2nd Shift Production Manager is responsible for leading production operations, ensuring customer orders are completed safely, on time, at the required quality level, and within budget. The role serves as the primary leader for production personnel while coordinating closely with Scheduling, Quality, Manufacturing, and Maintenance. This role involves leading the production team, owning quality and problem resolution, driving daily production performance, maintaining safety, compliance & shop discipline, and managing performance metrics.

Requirements

  • Leadership and direction to production employees and Production Team Leads.
  • Coaching and development of technical talent.
  • Coaching and mentoring PTLs and working leads.
  • Accountability for employee productivity, quality, attendance, and work performance.
  • Support for employee development and training.
  • Ensuring appropriate staffing levels for workload requirements.
  • Maintenance of documentation related to employee performance and counseling.
  • Technical resource for troubleshooting machinery and/or process-related issues.
  • Support for resolution of MRB and Nonconformance (NC) issues.
  • Addressing problems involving parts in production, quarantine, or customer returns.
  • Collaboration with Quality personnel on project priorities and ensuring product meets customer specifications.
  • Ensuring QMS specifications for part conformity align with customer print and CAD documentation.
  • Ensuring operators understand how to inspect parts and read blueprints.
  • Monitoring production schedules and workload capacity.
  • Communication with 1st Shift Production managers to set 2nd Shift priorities and maintain workload continuity.
  • Evaluation of production efficiency and throughput.
  • Updating run times and manufacturing process information.
  • Prioritizing jobs to meet customer delivery requirements.
  • Reviewing Open Order Reports and production status.
  • Following up on Late Laser, Turret, Blank, and Press reports.
  • Working with Scheduling to ensure jobs are staged and completed on time.
  • Identifying bottlenecks and removing obstacles impacting throughput.
  • Ensuring compliance with OSHA requirements and applicable regulations.
  • Enforcing company policies and procedures.
  • Promoting housekeeping and well-organized work areas.
  • Maintaining document traceability and production records.
  • Reinforcing expectations for attendance, conduct, and workplace discipline policies.

Responsibilities
