Production Manager

Slip Robotics•Norcross, GA

About The Position

Slip Robotics is a B2B Robotics-as-a-Service company that builds, deploys, and maintains autonomous loading and unloading robots at warehouse and fulfillment sites across North America. The Production Manager owns assembly-floor execution, including the production schedule, technician team, quality of finished products, and production throughput. The role will help scale production from a small team relying on individual know-how to a documented, repeatable operation with defined takt time, shift structure, and first-pass yield targets. This is a hands-on role based on the production floor. The Production Manager partners closely with Industrial and Manufacturing Engineering, which own process design and work instructions, and with Supply Chain and Quality, which own inbound parts. The Production Manager is accountable for execution, people, and output.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in production, assembly, or manufacturing operations, including at least 2 years directly managing hourly technicians or assemblers.
  • Hands-on experience running a mechanical or electro-mechanical assembly line, with the ability to work at a station when needed.
  • Demonstrated ownership of a production schedule and its metrics, including throughput, yield, on-time delivery, and labor efficiency.
  • Experience creating shift structures, work assignments, and training or certification programs from scratch or near-scratch.
  • Working knowledge of an ERP or MES for work orders and inventory transactions, such as NetSuite or similar.
  • Ability to read mechanical drawings, wiring diagrams, and bills of material.
  • A safety-first mindset and a track record of enforcing safety requirements.
  • Calm, organized, and direct approach under pressure, including surfacing problems early.
  • Physical capability to work on a production floor, including lifting up to 50 pounds, extended standing, and occasional after-hours coverage during ramps.
  • Experience in a startup or fast-paced environment and comfort building processes while running operations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in robotics, autonomous vehicles, industrial automation, or another low-volume, high-complexity build environment.
  • Lean or Six Sigma training and practical experience running kaizen, 5S, or standard work implementations.
  • Background in high-voltage battery, motor, or drivetrain assembly.
  • Experience scaling a line from low-volume prototype builds to steady-state production.
  • Familiarity with machine shops and metal fabrication.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, or a related field.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish.

Responsibilities

  • Own the daily and weekly production schedule and meet committed build and ship dates.
  • Manage day-to-day floor operations, including line balancing, work assignments, station staffing, and Finished Goods handoffs.
  • Track and improve units built, on-time completion, first-pass yield, labor hours per unit, and rework.
  • Escalate part shortages, tooling gaps, and engineering blockers early to protect the production schedule.
  • Establish a daily production cadence with shift start-up, floor stand-ups, and reliable end-of-day status updates.
  • Lead, schedule, and develop assembly technicians, setting clear performance expectations for each station.
  • Own hiring, onboarding, and cross-training as production scales, and build a skills matrix to reduce reliance on individual technicians.
  • Certify technicians against documented work instructions and uphold build standards.
  • Own floor safety by enforcing PPE and lockout/tagout requirements, conducting safety walks, and investigating incidents and near misses.
  • Own in-process and end-of-line quality, including build sign-offs, functional test completion, and containment of escaped defects.
  • Drive root-cause analysis and corrective action for build defects with Manufacturing Engineering and Service Engineering.
  • Partner with Manufacturing Engineering on work instructions, station layout, tooling, and fixturing, representing floor needs in those decisions.
  • Maintain accurate production transactions in the ERP, including work orders, build completions, and material consumption.
  • Support new product introduction by staffing and running pilot builds and providing design and process teams with feedback on buildability before volume ramps.

Benefits

  • Competitive salary and equity in an early-stage robotics company.
  • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision benefits.
  • Permissive time off policy.
