About The Position

Broadcast Management Group (BMG) is a leading global broadcast production company providing Live Production and Managed Services to major broadcast networks, studios, and corporations. A top producer of live multi-camera news, sports, entertainment, and corporate productions, BMG operates across the United States and is now establishing its Canadian headquarters in Toronto — bringing world-class broadcast infrastructure and talent to the Canadian market. BMG is seeking an experienced and dynamic Production Manager to lead day-to-day broadcast operations at its new Toronto facility and across Canadian productions. This is a hands-on leadership role responsible for the full production lifecycle, from pre-production planning and budgeting through on-site execution and client delivery. The Production Manager will serve as the operational backbone of BMG Canada, managing people, equipment, scheduling, and client relationships across live news, sports, entertainment, and large-scale corporate events.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of experience managing live broadcast productions including news, sports, entertainment, and large-scale corporate events
  • 5+ years in a production management or senior operations role within the Canadian broadcast industry
  • Proven experience developing and managing production budgets from pre-production through reconciliation
  • Deep knowledge of multi-camera live production workflows, broadcast infrastructure, and remote/mobile production operations
  • Experience managing and scheduling production resources — crew, equipment, facilities, and logistics — for concurrent productions
  • Strong, established network of Canadian freelance production crew across camera, audio, lighting, engineering, and production roles
  • Thorough knowledge of Canadian local production crew standards, union agreements, and labor regulations
  • Experience conducting technical site surveys and producing detailed location assessment reports
  • Proven client-facing skills with the ability to translate client requirements into actionable production plans
  • Ability to remain calm, decisive, and solution-focused in high-pressure live production environments
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Must be located in Toronto and available to work in the BMG facility 5 days per week

Nice To Haves

  • Experience operating or overseeing a broadcast facility including control rooms, studios, and mobile production units
  • Familiarity with broadcast automation systems, video routing, and IP-based production infrastructure
  • Bilingual proficiency in English and French
  • Bachelor's degree in Broadcast Production, Communications, or a related field
  • Experience with production management and scheduling software

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage all live broadcast productions including news, sports, entertainment, and large-scale corporate events
  • Run day-to-day operations of the BMG Toronto facility — control rooms, studio, and mobile unit logistics
  • Develop and manage production schedules, ensuring all resources (personnel and equipment) are allocated efficiently and on time
  • Coordinate and supervise freelance production crews and staff across all BMG Canada productions
  • Conduct pre-production site surveys and location assessments to evaluate technical and logistical requirements
  • Oversee mobile unit deployments, flypack setups, and remote production logistics
  • Ensure all productions meet BMG's quality standards and are delivered on time and on budget
  • Troubleshoot and resolve operational issues in real time during live productions
  • Develop, manage, and reconcile production budgets for all Canadian productions and facility operations
  • Source, negotiate, and manage vendor and equipment rental agreements to achieve best value without compromising quality
  • Track and report on all production expenditures; identify cost-saving opportunities while maintaining production standards
  • Manage equipment inventory, maintenance schedules, and asset tracking for the Toronto facility
  • Develop and maintain staffing plans, including freelance crew hiring and onboarding aligned with Canadian labor standards
  • Assist with United States productions as needed
  • Serve as a primary client-facing contact throughout the production process — from initial brief through final delivery
  • Consult with clients to understand production requirements and translate them into detailed operational plans
  • Lead and conduct technical site surveys with clients and creative teams; produce detailed survey reports
  • Maintain and grow relationships with clients, broadcast networks, corporate production partners and freelance crews across Canada
  • Collaborate with the BMG business development team to support proposals, RFPs, and new client pitches with production expertise
  • Leverage an established network of Canadian freelance production crew to staff productions efficiently and effectively
  • Maintain current knowledge of Canadian production crew standards, union agreements (IATSE, NABET, Unifor), and local labor regulations
  • Foster a positive, professional, and collaborative on-set culture consistent with BMG's values
  • Identify and develop emerging Canadian production talent to support BMG's long-term growth in the market
