Requirements

  • Four years technical or business degree or equivalent specialized training.
  • Five to ten years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment with proven abilities to organize work and motivate team members.
  • Thorough technical knowledge of department products.
  • Working knowledge of LEAN, ERP, material systems, and ISO standards.
  • Computer literacy and knowledge of PC based software such as Microsoft Office: specific areas would include strong skills in Excel and Word.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Proven ability to exercise good judgment and solve problems through analysis of data and facts.
  • Access to “controlled technology” as defined in the Export Administration Regulations (15 C.F.R. §730 et. seq.) and “technical data” as defined in the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (22 C.F.R, Chapter 1, Subchapter M). Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to access such controlled technology prior to beginning work.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise production and/or assembly of parts or product by the department to ensure timely and quality completion.
  • Set goals for improvement.
  • Provide technical assistance when necessary.
  • Supervise 10 or more direct or indirect employees.
  • Hire, schedule, instruct, and develop personnel. Ensure they follow policies and procedures and conduct performance evaluations.
  • Ensure direct reports are properly trained.
  • Manage personnel equipment and inventory to ensure the department has adequate resources to maintain total customer satisfaction. May order or expedite resources.
  • Attend and conduct production meetings and relay pertinent information back to team members. Maintain an effective communication system with staff.
  • Evaluate department processes for more efficient means and make suggestions for improvements.
  • Follow production schedules and prioritize log to minimize overtime and determine shipping priorities.
  • With guidance, conduct product pricing studies by determining costs, perform cost/time saving strategies and quality improvements.
  • Monitor metrics and alert appropriate individuals when measurements are unfavorable (e.g. PPHH, SA, OT, T, C).
  • Participate in budget planning and share responsibility in meeting budget objectives.
  • Participate in establishing or amending departmental policies and procedures.
  • Verify conformance of finished work to ensure compliance to specifications.
  • Work with sales and engineering personnel in resolving customers' technical problems.
  • Monitor and maintain inventory.
  • Ensure that products are complete, correct and ready for shipment.
  • Responsible for maintaining a safe, organized, and professional work environment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
