About The Position

The Production Manager will lead and ensure compliance with safety regulations, oversee the production process, maintain product quality, and adjust production plans to meet customer needs. This role involves managing adjustments to production schedules and methods, coordinating with maintenance and operations teams, and ensuring quality work through performance monitoring, training, and support. The manager will also coordinate efforts to maintain plant operations during disruptions, offer constructive feedback, and apply expertise in managing both operational processes and employees to achieve organizational goals. Additionally, the role includes leading and managing improvement projects to increase efficiency and reduce costs, analyzing current processes for enhancement, and implementing and monitoring changes. The manager will drive active safety engagements and ensure accountability for housekeeping, greasing, and equipment inspections.

Requirements

Qualified candidates will have a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Mining, Business or related field
2+ years Manager experience in heavy industrial manufacturing environment; previous experience as department manager or superintendent for larger facilities
Industry background in manufacturing related to mining, paper mills, steel plants, refractory, heavy equipment fabrication, stone processing, cement plants, etc. preferred.
Extensive knowledge and background in operations supply chain business processes, continuous manufacturing and production processes, and working contemporary concepts of continuous improvement and Lean Manufacturing.
Positive & proactive attitude with ability to address issues, implement solutions and motivate others.
Prior experience demonstrating effective management skills.
Demonstrable teamwork and maturity with a strong work ethic
Fluency in spoken and written English

Nice To Haves

Prior experience in mining/heavy manufacturing, especially kilns.
Demonstrates excellent organizational abilities, effectively solve problems, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously to ensure smooth operations.
Customer service focus with a commitment to continuous improvement.
Demonstrable success in cultural 'turn around' a plus.
Proven in leading operational excellence through applying behavior-based management.

Responsibilities

Manage necessary adjustments to production schedules and methods to align with customer specifications and demands.
Actively engage in weekly meetings to coordinate schedules between maintenance and production teams.
Ensure quality work from operations team by monitoring performance of operations, provide training and support as needed.
Coordinate efforts to maintain plant operations during equipment failures or other disruptions.
Offer constructive feedback to both maintenance and operations teams to enhance performance.
Apply expertise in managing both operational processes and employees to achieve organizational goals.
Assess and resolve organizational and people issues through coaching and mentoring.
Lead and manage improvement projects aimed at increasing efficiency and reducing costs.
Analyze current processes and identify areas for enhancement.
Implement and monitor changes to ensure successful outcomes.
Drives active safety engagements among team using formal safety stand-downs, SLAMs, and shift meetings.
Makes routine field walks to inspect plant and ensure all processes are in good working order.
Establishes and manages expectations for housekeeping, greasing, and equipment inspections.
Drives accountability and removes barriers to completing these objectives.
