About The Position

Neptune Fresh Produce Inc. is seeking a full-time Production Manager for its Calgary, AB location. This role is permanent and involves working in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment. The Production Manager is responsible for managing the company’s resources to improve productivity, minimize downtime, increase profits, and reduce costs. Key duties include meeting goals, creating workflow policies and procedures, developing schedules, and motivating staff to ensure efficient operation. Requirements

  • High School / Equivalent required.
  • Must have experience working in food manufacturing industry.
  • Excellent attention to detail and strong motivation toward company, team, and individual results.
  • Ability to work effectively with others and build and maintain appropriate interpersonal relationships.
  • Must have good written, verbal, organizational, and communication skills and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Must have good time management and organizational skills.
  • Must multitask, prioritize, and work independently or within a team environment.
  • Knowledge of spreadsheets, word processing, presentation, email, and internet software applications.

Responsibilities

  • Develops and implements policies and procedures for various production activities, including verifying incoming and outgoing shipments, handling and disposing of materials, and maintaining a current inventory.
  • Performs inspections of the physical condition of production equipment.
  • Prepares work orders for repairs or requisitions for replacement of equipment.
  • Collaborates with department heads to coordinate operational activities with other functions, including production, sales, records control, and purchasing.
  • Follows and maintains all Quality Assurance, HACCP, SQF requirements, and Occupational Health and safety regulations and ensures all employees in their department follow them.
  • Ensures employees' adherence to company practices and procedures, and applies corrective action when needed.
  • Conducts interviews, hires, trains, and retains staff.
  • Conducts performance monitoring (e.g., Probationary, Annual Evaluation, and Performance Objectives) of staff, initiates follow-through with disciplinary action and termination in consultation with Human Resources when appropriate for the department.
  • Mentors, motivates, and develops staff and acts as their role models and resources.
  • Develops the department's capital and operational budget.
  • Routinely monitors, manages, and controls the budget, analyzes variances, takes appropriate action, and develops plans for productivity improvements.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
