About The Position

Under the supervision of the Regional Operations Manager, this position supports the Sack Plant and Secondary Operations in all areas of production. This position is responsible for supervising the production operations and personnel; and ensuring that plant production meets Company standards of safety, quality and efficiency. This position is responsible for supporting and demonstrating the Core Values of Integrity, Safety, Respect, Customer Focus, Quality, Innovation and Financial Success. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma with 10+ years of Plant/Business leadership equivalent experience required
  • Requires a minimum of three years as a Production Supervisor overseeing manufacturing environments and supervising personnel.
  • On-the-job training experience is required to be able to perform duties.
  • Requires basic reading and writing skills.
  • Ability to communicate and interact both verbally and written.
  • Basic mathematics and counting is required.
  • Ability to follow oral and written instructions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a professional manner in dealing with employees and the public.
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)
  • Ability to operate personal computer, printer, calculator, copier, facsimile machine and any other office equipment required to perform duties.
  • Valid Driver’s License is required to operate Basalite and/or personal vehicle on public roadways.
  • Predictable and Regular attendance is required.

Nice To Haves

  • 5s and Lean Manufacturing knowledge
  • Ability to read drawings; electrical & hydraulic/pneumatic schematics is beneficial.
  • Equipment operational experience is beneficial including forklifts and man-lifts.
  • Bilingual in Spanish is highly desirable.
  • Operation of mobile electronic equipment may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises production crews and performs a variety of personnel functions including training, cross-training, encouraging and motivating employees, hiring, disciplinary actions, and performance reviews.
  • Recruits and hires operations personnel and coordinates plant employee schedules.
  • Approves employee action workflows and reviews daily payroll audit sheets for timekeeping accuracy.
  • Reviews and approves absence request forms.
  • Performs daily inventory evaluation and production scheduling.
  • Meets regularly with the Safety Coordinator to ensure safety standards are met.
  • Meets daily with inventory/production management to address production issues.
  • Reviews previous days’ production and production loss reports to evaluate operational standards.
  • Monitors the operational status of processes and quality of product being produced.
  • Performs and documents inspections of personnel, processes, and equipment.
  • Researches and orders parts and materials/supplies for plant operations.
  • Assists the maintenance department with maintenance requirements, project planning, and scheduling.
  • Monitors incoming raw materials for quality.
  • Monitors and records equipment downtime activities and prioritizes repairs.
  • Assists with raw material and finish goods inventory management.
  • Facilitates meetings, including pre-shift, safety, and daily production review meetings.
  • Meets with the Operations Manager regularly.
  • Completes special projects assigned by management.
  • Evaluates and maintains equipment parts inventories and orders parts and components.
  • Assists with trouble-shooting mechanical, electrical & hydraulic/pneumatic problems.
  • Uses company and/or personal vehicle for store runs to purchase equipment parts and supplies.
  • Operates manufacturing process equipment, forklifts, and other facility support equipment.
  • Maintains work area clean and clutter free per company standards.
  • Attends safety meetings and abides by all safety rules; ensures hazardous conditions are reported and corrected.
  • Maintains predictable and regular attendance.
