About The Position

The Production Manager - 2nd Shift will lead 250 personnel responsible for end-to-end Server RMA (Return Material Authorization) operations, who support a hyperscale customer server environment. This role is responsible for managing high-volume, high-complexity production activities including server disassembly, diagnosis, repair, refurbishment, reassembly, testing, and quality assurance, while consistently meeting stringent SLA, cost, quality, and delivery targets. The ideal candidate is a seasoned production leader with prior experience in server manufacturing, repair, or data center hardware operations, strong people leadership skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, customer-critical environment.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree required in any of the following: Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, or similar.
  • 5+ years of manufacturing/production leadership from data center-oriented companies or electronics manufacturing companies, which includes proven experience effectively leading multi-shift, high-volume production teams.
  • Career history must reflect progressive experience in production, manufacturing, or operations management.
  • Must have industry experience in server manufacturing, repair, RMA, or data center hardware operations, strong people leadership skills, and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced, customer-critical environment.
  • Deep understanding of server systems, electronic assemblies, and complex electromechanical products.
  • Proven ability to manage operations involving tight SLAs, high quality requirements, and demanding customers.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of addressing complex and ambiguous operational challenges.
  • Advanced people leadership skills, including performance management, conflict resolution, and team development.
  • Ability to understand and influence the strategic impact of the production function across sites and customers.
  • Proficiency with standard office and production tools, including: ERP/MES systems, e.g. Baan, Atlas or Flex Flow.
  • Reporting and data analysis tools Microsoft Office proficiency with Word, Excel (pivot tables experience a must; Macros experience optional), PowerPoint.
  • Production dashboards and KPI tracking systems

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual proficiency with English and Spanish, highly preferred.
  • Experience working with hyperscale customers (e.g. Cloud Service providers, Internet/Digital platforms, AI or data-driven companies), or similar high-expectation environments
  • Background in server RMA, refurbishment, or reverse logistics operations.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or Continuous Improvement methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead daily production operations for server RMA and refurbishment lines, including diagnosis, repair, reconfiguration, testing, and final QA.
  • Ensure strict adherence to customer SLAs, quality standards, and turnaround time (TAT) requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives across production throughput, yield, efficiency, and cost reduction.
  • Establish and track KPIs related to output, quality, rework rates, labor efficiency, and inventory accuracy.
  • Provide strong technical leadership in server hardware systems, including computing, storage, memory, power, and networking components.
  • Support and improve test procedures, repair guidelines, and diagnostic processes for complex server platforms.
  • Partner with engineering and quality teams to implement new product introductions (NPI) or changes to existing server designs.
  • Identify process gaps, failure trends, and systemic issues; drive corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
  • Define and manage material, equipment, tooling, and manpower requirements to meet production demand.
  • Prioritize production schedules based on RMA volumes, material availability, engineering constraints, and customer urgency.
  • Collaborate with planning, logistics, and supply chain teams to ensure smooth flow of materials and minimal downtime.
  • Forecast department operating costs and contribute to budget planning and cost control initiatives.
  • Lead, coach, and develop supervisors, leads, and production teams to ensure high performance and accountability.
  • Build a culture of safety, quality, ownership, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure appropriate training, certification, and skill development for all team members working on server hardware.
  • Manage staffing plans, hiring, performance evaluations, and succession planning.
  • Act as a primary operations interface for key customers and internal stakeholders regarding production status, escalations, and performance reviews.
  • Participate in customer meetings, audits, and operational review related to RMA execution.
  • Resolve complex and often controversial situations involving customer negotiations, priority conflicts, or operational trade-offs.
  • Influence cross-functional leadership and senior management to support operational goals and plant performance.
  • Ensure compliance with internal procedures and external requirements related to ESD, data security, quality systems, and safety regulations.
  • Support audits and corrective actions related to ISO, customer-specific, or regulatory requirements.
  • Maintain a controlled manufacturing environment that protects customer data, intellectual property, and hardware integrity.
