Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of supervisory or management experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading Kaizen and 5s implementations.
  • Previous responsibility for identifying and maintaining Key Performance Indicators.
  • Familiarity with adhering to and maintaining quality systems.
  • Required to utilize Microsoft Office products and other Strattec-specific software programs.

  • TS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all activities related to the daily operation of a specific manufacturing operations department, including safety, quality, personnel, assets, inventory, scheduling, KPIs, and production.
  • Establish and sustain a strong 5s culture through initiating activities, implementing action plans, defining responsibilities, and providing training.
  • Enforce safety adherence, drive continuous improvement in safety matters, identify and implement corrective actions, and track safety KPIs.
  • Ensure the department is always prepared for tours and audits.
  • Communicate clear expectations and KPIs for the department, establish action plans for each position, and present KPIs to management weekly and monthly.
  • Schedule personnel and assets to meet production requirements using Lean best practices, managing resources to minimize inefficiencies, overtime, and cost overruns.
  • Set goals to achieve operational effectiveness of 85% or greater.
  • Drive positive employee engagement by fostering a strong bond between management and the union hourly workforce through communication, goal setting, feedback, and recognition.
  • Coach and develop the leadership team to ensure all members have the necessary technical and leadership training.
  • Strictly adhere to production processes set by engineering and quality teams, involving them when deviations are required.
  • Follow all processes related to quality certifications (ISO, TS).
  • Ensure effective production teams are established across all three shifts, with each shift meeting standard work requirements and production/quality levels.
  • Maintain ownership of machine maintenance and cleanliness to ensure longevity and operational effectiveness.
  • Establish cross-training matrices and implement training plans for workforce flexibility.
  • Manage day-to-day personnel and equipment, redirecting schedules and employees to meet goals under dynamic work situations.
  • Utilize problem-solving tools to troubleshoot challenging situations in a complex working environment.
  • Provide employees with feedback and direction to achieve goals, addressing questions or doubts with upper management to maintain a positive working environment.
  • Adhere to all production processes defined in work instructions, obtaining written authorization for deviations.
  • Expand and improve documentation and training to ensure employees understand objectives and possess the necessary skills.
  • Participate in customer and quality audits as required.
  • Establish a quality-first culture, ensuring manufacturing of non-conforming goods is not accepted.
  • Ensure all tools have necessary preventative maintenance to avoid quality issues and maximize uptime.
  • Participate in customer and quality tours as needed.
  • Ensure hourly workforce can explain their duties related to producing quality products during tours.
  • Maintain a customer scorecard to track performance and delivery for products within their processes.
  • Implement Lean tools such as Kaizen and 5s activities to meet cost reduction goals.
  • Continuously review all processes to ensure the most efficient methodologies are utilized.
  • Provide Lean and continuous improvement training to all employees.
  • Identify and implement cost savings projects throughout the year.
  • Implement and track cost reduction KPIs, presenting results to management monthly.
  • Manage employees and supervisors over 3 shifts, including selection, discipline, and termination decisions according to legal and union contract requirements.
