About The Position

Red River Commodities is seeking a dedicated and results-oriented Swing Shift Production Manager to oversee operations at our SunGold facility, where we roast, season, and package premium sunflower seeds. The Swing Shift Production Manager will be responsible for managing production activities, ensuring quality standards, optimizing efficiency, and fostering a safe and collaborative work environment during swing shift hours.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in operations management, food science, or a related field preferred.
  • 5+ years of production experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
  • Experience in food manufacturing, particularly roasting and packaging processes, is highly desirable.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate and manage a diverse team.
  • Proficiency in production management software, Microsoft Office Suite, and familiarity with ERP systems.
  • Solid understanding of quality control, safety regulations, and operational best practices.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of sunflower seed processing or similar food manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee all production activities during the swing shift, ensuring that daily production schedules are met efficiently and on time.
  • Monitor and manage the roasting, seasoning, and packaging processes to ensure compliance with quality and safety standards.
  • Coordinate with maintenance and quality teams to minimize downtime and address issues promptly.
  • Lead, supervise, and support swing shift production staff, including Maintenance, Machine operators, Packaging Associates, Production Associates and other team members.
  • Assign tasks, provide direction, and ensure all employees understand their responsibilities.
  • Conduct regular team meetings to communicate expectations, goals, and safety updates.
  • Maintain and enforce quality control procedures to ensure finished products meet customer and company standards.
  • Conduct regular inspections of production lines and equipment to identify and resolve quality issues.
  • Work closely with the quality assurance team to implement corrective actions when necessary.
  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce waste.
  • Track and report key performance indicators (KPIs) for production, quality, and safety.
  • Collaborate with other shifts to ensure a seamless transition and maintain operational consistency.
  • Promote and enforce a culture of safety by ensuring compliance with all workplace safety policies and regulations.
  • Conduct regular safety audits and address any concerns or violations immediately.
  • Ensure that all employees are properly trained on equipment operation and safety procedures.
  • Monitor and manage raw material and packaging inventory to prevent shortages or overstocking.
  • Coordinate with the supply chain and logistics teams to ensure timely delivery of materials.
  • Maintain accurate production records and documentation.
