About The Position

The Production Manager (PM) is responsible for creating production and rehearsal schedules, maintaining frequent correspondence with the production team, and coordinating all technical aspects of performances throughout the season for all theatre and dance productions. The PM leads production meetings, distributes meeting reports and secures space reservations. The Production Manager works with the Technical Director to oversee the planning and successful implementation of all technical aspects of productions, including tech rehearsals and strike. The PM works closely with the costume shop, scene shop, choreographers, designers, and directors; to facilitate collaboration between all production stake holders. The PM assigns crew members, enters registration codes, communicates crew responsibilities and work schedule, and enters final grades, in conjunction with the shop managers for all THTR 255 crew positions. The PM oversees the Department’s technical inventory and equipment, ensuring functionality and keeping track of equipment location. The PM often contributes to areas outside their primary duties to ensure a successful production. This is a half-time (.50), 10-month cyclic, project position ending no later than June 30, 2027. The State HR classification for this position is Stage Manager.

Requirements

  • Academic or professional experience in production management for theater and dance
  • BA or BFA in Theater Arts concentrating in Stage Management and or Technical Theatre
  • Demonstrated commitment to create an anti-racist and equitable work environment that is reflective of all the communities we serve
  • Experience facilitating collaboration and communication between all production stakeholders
  • High proficiency in MS Office and scheduling software
  • Experience with ETC lighting consoles and instruments and Q-lab
  • Ability to lift at least 50 lbs. and climb ladders
  • Ability to work evenings and weekend
