About The Position

The Production Manager SE is responsible for overseeing production operations, including budget management, personnel functions, and ensuring a safe and efficient work environment. This role involves guiding supervisory staff, managing departmental performance, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives. The position requires a strong understanding of production processes, equipment, and employee development, with a significant portion of time spent on the production floor.

Requirements

  • Requires regular, in-person attendance at the facility
  • Able to work as part of a team including but not limited to members of management, employees throughout Cardinal and vendor partnerships
  • Able to exercise good judgment in decision making, ideas, and all aspects relating to the SBLG team, Cardinal Glass Industries, and other company relationships
  • Able to maintain a professional appearance and conduct, always exhibiting a respectful and courteous demeanor
  • Strong communication and public speaking skills
  • Comfortable performing multifaceted projects in conjunction with day-to-day activities
  • Ability to establish credibility and be decisive, but still able to recognize and support the organization’s mission
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Minimum of 5 years supervisory management experience in manufacturing environment
  • Undergraduate degree in Engineering, Business, or equivalent experience
  • Demonstrated ability to design, administers, track and enhance complex programs. This includes program design, documentation, setting measurements, auditing, providing feedback, tracking, compiling, and applying statistical data and continuous improvement to all programs
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve results through people. This includes the ability to work harmoniously with others at all levels of the organization
  • Excellent leadership and team building skills are essential. Ability to develop employees and delegate effectively
  • Effective presentation and communication skills
  • Knowledge of duction tools and equipment
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs

Nice To Haves

  • OSHA 10 Certification
  • LEAN Certification or other types of production system training (Six Sigma, JIT, ISO)
  • Knowledge of Laminating processes

Responsibilities

  • Preparation and management of annual budgets aimed at cost containment and quality performance
  • Responsible for all personnel related functions including staffing, performance appraisal, timekeeping, feedback, development, and continuous improvement
  • Assist and guide supervisory staff within departments in giving positive recognition, corrective actions, and/or issuing terminations to employees when needed
  • Manage departmental performance measures, including visual controls and provides regular progress reports to Plant Superintendent and Plant Manager
  • Provide guidance for day-to-day operations to Supervisors, Leads, and Coordinator as well as designating specific tasks
  • Maintains safe and clean work environment by training and educating personnel on the use of equipment, and resources, maintaining compliance with established safety policies and procedures
  • Conduct staff meetings as necessary and participate in monthly staff meetings
  • Develop employee culture aimed at plant cleanliness and set in place processes and programs that insure high degrees of cleanliness
  • Ability to travel as required by the position and customer needs
  • Effective ability to interact with other staff or service areas of the company toward the goals of enhancing employee relations, reduction of turnover, serving or supporting committees
  • Implements and supports Continuous Improvement throughout the organization
  • Responsible for the care and use of multi-million-dollar equipment and uses insight from team members and research to identify new equipment needs. Works with upper management and outside contractors to move through purchase approval, installation, and training process
  • Coordinates with maintenance staff and production team members for non-scheduled maintenance to ensure equipment is maintained/repaired and the plant production needs are met
  • 10% of scheduled shift time spent in the office 90% of scheduled shift on the production floor
  • Accept more challenging assignments as experience and knowledge allows
  • Train others to help them gain knowledge in your strength areas as needed
