About The Position

The Bakery Manager will lead, train, and develop bakery staff through hands-on leadership, coaching, onboarding, and cross-training. This role involves planning and managing staffing schedules, labor reporting, and production workflows to meet operational needs. The manager will supervise daily bakery production to ensure products meet quality, consistency, presentation, and deadline expectations. Responsibilities include monitoring inventory, overseeing stock rotation, verifying deliveries, and supporting efficient use of supplies, labor, and equipment. The role also involves researching, developing, and refining recipes, production methods, and operational efficiencies. Conducting team meetings, daily huddles, coaching conversations, and performance discussions in partnership with HR is also key. Maintaining and enforcing food safety, sanitation, personal hygiene, and workplace safety standards throughout the bakery operation is crucial. The manager will utilize Microsoft Office and administrative systems to manage scheduling, reporting, and operational documentation. Partnering with operational leadership on forecasting, budgeting, wholesale account support, and production planning, and collaborating cross-functionally with catering, production, and leadership teams to support daily operational success are also important aspects of this position.

Requirements

  • Current Oregon Food Handler Certification
  • Oregon Food Safety Professional Certification
  • Minimum 5 years of commercial bakery experience, including at least 3 years in a leadership or supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial baking techniques, food safety practices, sanitation standards, and bakery production operations.
  • Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop teams in a fast-paced food production environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
  • Strong organizational, communication, problem-solving, and time management skills.
  • Solid math skills related to recipe scaling, measurements, inventory management, and production planning.
  • Fluent English communication skills (verbal and written) required.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with inventory or production management software preferred.
  • Culinary degree with a concentration in Baking & Pastry Arts preferred.
