About The Position

The Production Manager II directs the manufacturing environment in order to meet production, quality, and cost objectives. This role determines requirements for equipment, materials, and manpower resources. This individual usually directs other first-line supervisors in reporting and scheduling activities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a related field
  • 10-15 years of relevant experience (required)
  • Demonstrated skill to read and understand basic component part drawings
  • Demonstrated skill to read and understand basic manufacturing routers
  • Demonstrated skill to read and understand basic bills of material, manufacturing work instructions
  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Project)

Nice To Haves

  • 10 years of leadership experience preferred
  • Prior experience in Maintenance & TPM implementation preferred
  • Working knowledge of at least one of the following processes/equipment is (required)[Recruiter/Hiring Manager: update this list with the processes/equipment at your location]
  • Lighting fixture manufacturing
  • Manual or automated assembly
  • Progressive dies or metal stamping
  • Metal fabrication (turret presses/brake presses)
  • Powder Coating/wet paint operation
  • Working knowledge of SAP preferred
  • Training and experience implementing LEAN manufacturing preferred

Responsibilities

  • Setting and maintaining priorities, vision, and leadership.
  • Providing technical assistance & trouble shooting support to Materials, Quality, Engineering, Finance, Maintenance, Field Service, Shipping, and the Distribution Center.
  • Recommending raw material or component part substitutions and alternative methods of manufacturing.
  • Ensuring that cross training and continuing education is maintained for key salary and hourly personnel.
  • Identifying and initiating manufacturing improvements. Supporting engineering with cost reduction initiatives.
  • Providing manufacturing information by compiling, initiating, sorting, and analyzing production performance records and data; answering questions and responding to requests.
  • Approving timecards on a weekly basis for hourly and salaried employees.
  • Maintaining working relationships with the union by following the terms of the collective bargaining agreement.
  • Assisting Human Resources in resolving personnel problems by analyzing data; investigating issues; identifying solutions; recommending action.
