About The Position

This is an intermediate level position that exists to maintain, repair, and fabricate parts for all production shops including Sutherlin, and North Bank facilities. To be successful in this role, the Production Maintenance Tech II must show continued desire to develop their skills, and have experience performing equipment troubleshooting and repairs.

Requirements

  • GED or equivalent education that demonstrates ability to read with comprehension, write, and have basic mathematic skills.
  • One-year solid experience.
  • Basic metal fabrication skills required. Cutting metal, drilling, ability to copy simple existing parts, steel welding, etc.
  • Considerable skill with hand and power tools.
  • Basic knowledge of: Pumps, bearings, seals, pneumatic controls, hydraulics, Electrical components.
  • Basic computer skills (email, word processing, learn maintenance program).
  • Comprehension of schematics and drawings.
  • Considerable knowledge of: Compressed air systems, gaskets, mechanical systems, Troubleshooting techniques.
  • Must have adequate reading and writing ability to perform duties of job.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently.
  • Completion of initial 8-hour Emergency Response & HW (HazWopper) Operations level training is required.
  • Completion of the annual 8-hour HazWopper-Operations Level training is required thereafter.
  • Must complete Orenco Lock-Out/Tagout certification within 45 days of hire.
  • Must complete forklift certification within 45 days of hire.
  • Must complete Confined Space and Fall protection certification within 45 days of hire.
  • Avoids disruptive behaviors that negatively impact the team.
  • Requires good communication and team building skills.
  • Ability to be flexible and adjust to priority changes with little notice and to remain calm during confrontational or high-pressure situations.
  • Ability to use sound judgement and follow-through in problem-solving and decision-making processes.
  • Must have satisfactory driving record, maintain valid driver's license, and current insurance on personal vehicle if used for business.
  • Must meet company insurability requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Continuously maintains Orenco Management's safety, cultural, and professional standards.
  • Promotes, encourages, and reinforces a positive safety culture, safe practices, and a safe work environment to all employees.
  • Troubleshoots equipment center failure and repairs faulty equipment.
  • Complete Preventative Maintenance tickets requiring intermediate skills.
  • Reports an accurate consumption of replacement parts to the repair parts management system.
  • Coordinates with production to schedule equipment center downtime and performs equipment center maintenance.
  • Documents work performed in Maintenance Management System.
  • Performs tasks assigned to him/her by supervisors.
  • Follows ALL Lockout/Tagout safety procedures.
  • Checks with and listens to machine center operators on a daily basis for feedback on machine center performance.
  • Coordinates with production to schedule equipment center downtime for repairs and preventative maintenance.
  • Keeps work area clean and free of safety hazards.
  • Attends and participates in team meetings.
  • May be part of a mechanical/construction team on the construction, installation, or repairs to machinery and structures, working with other trades such as machinists, carpenters, electricians, etc.
  • Work to be done during manufacturing business hours, which may include an occasional early and/or later shift as needed.
  • Occasional overtime may be required.
  • Regular, consistent, and predictable attendance is required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
