Production Machine Operator - 7pm-7am

About The Position

This role involves operating and regulating pellet mills and dryers to ensure optimal production of pellets. The operator will monitor bin levels, regulate material mix for desired moisture and density, and troubleshoot equipment malfunctions. A daily report detailing various operational metrics is required. This position operates on a 12-hour night shift schedule with a 3/2/2/3 rotation, requiring every other weekend work. A shift differential is provided for night operations.

Requirements

• Requires working knowledge of all aspects of the production process.
• Must be able to pass the company forklift certification.
• Must be able to lift up to 80 lbs waist high.
• Must be able to stand for up to 12 hours per day.
• Must be able to use catwalks and climb ladders that connect catwalks up to 60 feet high and according to safety standards.
• Must have mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Must have the ability to do simple math calculations.

Nice To Haves

• High School diploma or GED preferred.
• One to two years production experience in an industrial setting highly preferred.
• Process Controls Experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Operate and adjust pellet mills, and regulate dryer inlet and outlet temperatures per specifications.
• Oversee and monitor bin levels.
• Regulate material mix to obtain the optimal pellet moisture and pellet density ratio, keeping pellet moisture under specified limits per compacted cubic foot by communicating the ratio of fresh and old sawdust and wet and dry shavings.
• Troubleshoot equipment malfunctions, spot fires, and hot bearings.
• Maintain pellet mill feed rates and adjust or change pellet mill rolls/dies accordingly.
• Complete a daily report detailing temperature readings, dried material moisture, and perform density checks per specifications, and the average for the day, total mill hours, natural gas hours and estimate tonnage.
• Perform additional accountabilities as required.
