About The Position

Cargill's protein and salt business provides wholesome, high-quality food products to a wide range of customers. This role is responsible for helping the daily operation of a specific production line. The position is located in Albert Lea, MN and is a full-time, 1st shift position with a compensation of $27.05/hr. The work environment is cold, and tasks may include handling raw meat, operating computerized systems, operating machines, cutting raw meat, and using various tools. Personal protective equipment must be worn, and food safety requirements must be followed.

Requirements

  • Must be eligible to work in the United States without visa sponsorship
  • Must be 18 years or older
  • Compliance with all safety and food safety, and HR programs, policies, and regulations
  • Ability to work around and with raw meat (beef, pork, chicken, etc.)
  • Ability to work in cold temperatures (between 32-36 degrees)
  • Ability to stand on hard surfaces for extended periods of time
  • Ability to lift up to 50lbs
  • Ability to wear required personal protective equipment
  • Ability to work in a repetitive and fast paced environment
  • Ability to rotate through various positions/tasks
  • Ability to read, write, and speak English

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual (English/Spanish, English/Portuguese)
  • Prior industrial meat industry work experience with a like competitor
  • Prior work history in a production background that deals with speed and repetition
  • Previous leadership experience in industrial environment
  • Previous Cargill experience
  • Work history in the past 12 months

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for helping daily operation of the specific production line that is assigned.
  • Basic understanding of the tasks being performed by employees on the production floor
  • Assist the supervisor in maintaining all required compliance with safety, food safety, and HR related topics
  • Conduct PPE checks on a daily basis
  • Evaluate new hires for the Ramp In Process
  • Conduct Ergonomic assessments for new work stations
  • Work in a cold environment doing a variety of tasks such as handling raw meat, operating computerized labeling and scale systems, operating machines and slicers, operating forklifts, high reach equipment, and pallet jacks, and cutting raw meat using different tools
  • Must wear personal protective equipment and work within food safety requirements to deliver a safe product to the consumer
  • Ability to lead others through conflict resolution, engagement, and coaching
