About The Position

Home Chef is seeking a Production Lead for their 2nd shift operations. This role is responsible for guiding a team of production associates in various tasks including portioning, meal bagging/kitting, and shipping. The Production Lead will also be responsible for leading, directing, guiding, and training assigned production employees. This position follows a 2nd shift schedule, working from 3:30 PM to 12:30 AM, with designated days off on Wednesday and Thursday. The Production Lead is expected to start their shift prior to the start of production to obtain the daily production plan and targets from the supervisor and set up the necessary workstations.

Requirements

  • General high school degree, or equivalent (e.g. GED).
  • Strong attendance and performance record as a Home Chef production associate is required for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates with the Supervisor to get the production plans and targets for the day.
  • Follows production schedules to ensure order completion during allotted timeframes.
  • Effectively communicates targets and production expectations to associates and monitors their performance.
  • Ensures associates are following HC policies/procedures and escalates concerns to the Production Supervisor.
  • Prioritizes and plans for potential product shortages during production and shipping, communicating needs to warehouse runners to avoid downtime.
  • Conducts checks on ingredients for quality, accuracy, and shelf life before and during production.
  • Sets up portioning tables, meal bagging tables, and shipping lines according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Ensures associates have the necessary labels, packaging, and product to start the shift and new activities.
  • Manages waste by ensuring the line does not overproduce and oversees associates to prevent unnecessary waste of food or packaging.
  • Oversees all portioning and meal bagging/kitting for their assigned table/pod.
  • Identifies and completes all sections listed on the production sheet.
  • Works with FSQA to verify ingredients and complete meal bag sign-off prior to starting the line.
  • Works with FSQA to ensure meal bag checks are conducted hourly.
  • Retrieves necessary labels and conducts hourly checks to ensure packaging and labels are correct.
  • Communicates shortages of labeled packaging to the supervisor.
  • Conducts hourly checks of portions and meal bags to reduce errors.
  • Monitors the pace of the portioning and meal bagging line and makes adjustments to meet targets.
  • Assists the Production Supervisor when running a shipping line, understanding all shipping line types.
  • Understands and uses the Boxing Call out Sheet to set up and verify the line.
  • Follows SOP for transitioning between runs.
  • Ensures SOPs for box packing, shipping, and/or Pick & Pack are followed.
  • Manages the pace of the shipping line and makes adjustments as necessary.
  • Collects counts hourly (CHI) or bi-hourly (CA) to deliver to the Supervisor.
  • Delivers numbers of meal bags and WIP produced at the end of each workday.
  • Ensures crates have clear and legible labels and old labels are removed.
  • Ensures completed portion and meal bag towers are tagged according to SOP.
  • Ensures meal bag towers are moved to the proper storage location and ordered by date, following FIFO processes.
  • Enforces and executes Home Chef Food Safety Policies on the production floor.
  • Ensures FSQA is conducting GMP checks and calls out/corrects GMP violations.
  • Ensures associates are utilizing proper lifting techniques.
  • Attends all safety trainings and escalates employee safety risks to the Safety Supervisor.
  • Ensures team accountability in case of an evacuation.
  • Ensures work area is clean and ready for the next shift.
  • Supervises production associates, ensuring they hit production targets.
  • Sets an example of the expected work pace.
  • Identifies and escalates disruptive behavior on the line.
  • Resolves conflicts between associates calmly and escalates issues to the supervisor/manager when needed.
  • Follows and helps enforce facility GMPs.
  • Ensures safe working conditions and corrects/escalates safety risks.
  • Supports the company's food safety system (SQF) and quality programs.
