About The Position

This position exists to lead a team of CNC Machinists/Operators on the second shift. The role involves leading, training, and coaching team members, managing work orders, ensuring quality control, performing maintenance, and coordinating production activities to align with company goals. The pay offers a dollar uplift from the employee's current rate.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Documented experience with leading teams of people
  • Minimum 1 years of related experience
  • Experience with Statistical Process Controls (SPC)
  • Experience in operating Surface Grinder machines
  • Works under moderate supervision
  • Servant leadership mentality
  • Advanced knowledge of machining practices, including cutting tool nomenclature and uses, calculations of speeds, material composition, part fixturing, and inspecting and checking methods
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and tool design
  • Ability to solve problems independently or as part of a team
  • Must be able to promote and work in a highly collaborative environment
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Good interpersonal skills
  • Solid troubleshooting skills
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Nice To Haves

  • Certificate or diploma in machining desired
  • Yellow belt certification preferred or willing to gain within a year
  • May be entry level if some experience in the skill
  • Gains or has attained full proficiency in a specific area of discipline

Responsibilities

  • Leads, trains, and coaches CNC Machinist/Operators on operations basics, day-to-day challenges and exceptions, machine setups and changeovers, and other higher needs in the department
  • Kits and stages work orders before distribution to appropriate staff members and locations
  • Responsible for tool reconciliation at end of each work order
  • Manages Discrepant Material Reports (DMR) within the department
  • Performs Preventive Maintenance (PM) on production equipment
  • Sets up, loads programs, and operates CNC machines
  • Monitors machine performance by randomly spot-checking products from various machines
  • Ensures First Article Inspections are completed in a timely manner
  • Identifies deviations and makes appropriate adjustments as needed
  • Inspects and measures small parts with a high degree of precision and accuracy
  • Manages team assignments and schedules, including breaks and lunches
  • Documents and reports personnel issues to Department Supervisor
  • Oversees, monitors, and coordinates production team activities, giving importance to individual member's and overall team's achievement of established goals
  • Ensures team's goals are aligned with and representative of the overall company's directive
  • Acts as liaison between team members and the rest of the organization
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
