About The Position

To assist the supervisor in accomplishing production requirements per company, customer and government requirements. This role involves orientating new team members, communicating with various departments, completing reports, assisting with timekeeping, setting up equipment, monitoring production lines, and ensuring daily goals are met. The Production Lead also participates in team concepts, operating systems, and performs other duties as necessary to support business objectives.

Requirements

  • Frequent lifting/carrying of up to 50 pounds depending on the department.

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.

Responsibilities

  • Orientate new team members to their jobs including basic dress requirements and good manufacturing practices, safety aspects, job assignments and sanitation procedures and policies.
  • Serve as a mentor to new team members.
  • Communicate with team members, supervisors, management, QA and USDA regarding any information about the line they are working on.
  • Complete required written and electronic reports.
  • Assist with timekeeping management of line/department employees (schedule rotations, breaks, etc.).
  • Set up equipment for the line daily for start-up, making sure standards and quality are met within the department.
  • Work on the line with product and monitor belts to ensure that the proper speed is set.
  • Ensure that goals are met daily and help set new goals and improve morale within the department and with organizational skills and compliance with USDA.
  • Participate as a member of the Team.
  • Participate in ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies; coordinate work to ensure B.E.S.T practices with all team members.
  • Attend appropriate team meetings.
  • Foster strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues; e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes, etc.
  • Accept responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues and actively look for ways, and reinforce actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
  • Be familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies); understand the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems - including a consideration of the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
  • Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
