About The Position

As a Production Lead team member at Smithfield Foods, you will perform essential production tasks and support coworkers to help deliver safe, high-quality food. You will help maintain a positive work environment and a safe, efficient production line while meeting safety, quality, and teamwork standards. Production Leads work with hand tools, knives, machinery, and other equipment to process meat products for consumers. They support the management team by understanding the full operations of the line and helping train and develop production employees. The work can be physically demanding and requires good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail. Leads must work their scheduled shift and may be required to work overtime depending on production demands. Applicants must be at least 18 years old. Requirements

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Be willing and able to perform continuous or repetitive movements, including grasping, pinching, and flexing and extending the arms.
• Be able to stand on concrete and/or platforms for up to a 12-hour shift.
• Be willing and able to work around animal blood and/or carcass parts.
• Be willing and able to work with a knife if trained.
• Be willing and able to work in cold areas of approximately 20–40 degrees and/or warm areas over 100 degrees.
• Be willing and able to work in wet and humid conditions, noisy environments, and around strong smells or odors.
• Be willing and able to work with sanitation and cleaning chemicals.
• Wear a hard hat, hearing and eye protection, steel-toed safety shoes, and other required personal protective equipment.
• Be able to climb or move on ladders, steps, stairways, walkways, and platforms; bend, stoop, and twist repetitively; and walk long distances.
• May need certification to operate equipment required for the position.
• Depending on the position, be able to perform repetitive overhead lifting up to 30 pounds, lift heavy objects weighing up to 60 pounds, or lift objects with mechanical assistance.
• Demonstrate good hand-eye coordination, attention to detail, reliability, and a strong work ethic.
