Produciton Lead / Switchgear Lead
About The Position
The Switchgear Lead is a hands-on leadership role responsible for keeping switchgear production moving safely, efficiently, and on schedule. You will lead and support technicians, coordinate daily workloads, monitor quality, and help solve production issues as they come up. This position works closely with production, purchasing, inventory, and other teams to make sure the right materials and resources are available to complete work accurately and on time. If you have strong electrical or manufacturing experience, enjoy leading people, and know how to keep a busy shop organized, this could be a strong fit.
Requirements
- Experience in switchgear, electrical equipment, fabrication, manufacturing, or a related production environment
- Previous lead, supervisory, or team leadership experience
- Strong understanding of manufacturing and production processes
- Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications
- Strong mechanical and electrical aptitude
- Ability to organize work, set priorities, and manage multiple production demands
- Strong communication and team leadership skills
- Working knowledge of production planning, inventory, ERP, or manufacturing systems
- Understanding of manufacturing safety requirements and best practices
Nice To Haves
- Experience with Lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement practices is a plus
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing Management, or a related field is preferred but not required
Responsibilities
- Lead, coach, and support switchgear technicians
- Assign daily work and communicate production priorities
- Train employees on procedures, safety requirements, and quality expectations
- Provide feedback and help employees develop their technical skills
- Help resolve workflow, performance, and production issues
- Coordinate daily production activities to meet customer deadlines
- Prioritize jobs based on workload, material availability, and production schedules
- Monitor work in progress and adjust assignments as priorities change
- Make sure labor, equipment, and materials are being used effectively
- Coordinate with purchasing, inventory, logistics, and production planning when materials or components are needed
- Make sure completed work meets drawings, specifications, quality standards, and customer requirements
- Inspect work in progress and completed equipment
- Identify quality issues early and coordinate corrective action or rework when needed
- Help maintain consistent inspection and quality control processes
- Look for ways to improve workflow, productivity, quality, and cost
- Help implement Lean, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement practices where appropriate
- Review production metrics and KPIs to identify trends and opportunities for improvement
- Help solve recurring production problems by identifying root causes and implementing corrective actions
- Maintain a safe and organized work environment
- Ensure employees follow company safety procedures and applicable regulations
- Conduct or participate in safety inspections, hazard assessments, and incident reviews
- Encourage employees to identify hazards and actively participate in safety programs
